I'm installing a Pioneer PDP-503PU 50" Plasma TV. It comes with an outboard switcher/scaler that all of the sources plug in to. The outboard switcher/scaler then plugs in to the plasma with a dual DVI type cable. The one that is supplied is 9' long. The outboard switcher/scaler is located in an equipment rack behind the seating area, much farther than 9'.
Does anyone know where I can get a 25' cable with these special ends? I've been trying Pioneer with no luck, as well as a few other places. I'm pretty sure that both cables are a type of DVI and/or flat panel monitor configuration (they are both different, but both are neccessary).
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Try Liberty Wire & Cable, www.libertycable.com. They are one of several companies that should be able to custom make those cables for you.

*There may be reason why those cables are only 9'long, I'd check with Pioneer to see if you could go longer*

We were told that the max length of the DVI cable is 25'. In our showroom we mounted the switcher/scaler with the 6' cables in the basement below the screen and ran 12'component cables to it. The picture is a little grainy and I don't know if this is due to the cable length or not. I suspect that at 12' it is not the cables fault but I have seen great reports on the picture quality of the Pioneer in this forum. Has anyone else noticed grainy plasmas from Pioneer?

Extron and Inline (inlineinc.com) will both make you custom cable assemblies. I don't think that they have a dual DVI cable in 1 jacket, but if you can have 2 seperate jackets, this shouldn't be a problem. I don't think that DVI will work (officially) to 25' but like anything, you can try it and take your chances. In an absolute must have situation, I've used an Extron converter for DVI that digitally transcodes and extends the DVI signal much further (without converting to analog).

I ordered 2 10' cables and coupled them together for a 20' length. It did not work...picture was unacceptable.
Pioneer, as well as the people I ordered the cables from, said that even 10' was pushing it--they were right!
The 3 meter cable that Pioneer supplies is actually 2 cables bonded together, side by side (a control cable and a video cable):

The "control" cable is a DFP (digital flat panel) 20 pin, male to male cable. It is an early type flat panel cable that is being phased out in the PC monitor industry. As far as I can tell, it is used for the control portion of the Pioneer TV/Media Receiver.
The "Video" cable is a "DVI-D Dual Link" digital visual interface cable, male to male. This cable, and the type of signal that it carries, is not designed for lengths over 10', according to everything I've researched. It is my understanding that this cable carries the "Video" portion of the Pioneer Plasma/Media Receiver.
The Pioneer Plasma and the Media Receiver each have female inputs for the two cables.
My final solution:
I got the clients a 50" Panasonic Plasma, with all connections on the TV itself.
Sorry Pioneer...
