My Pronto just crapped out on me and just bought a new PS3 to use as my DVD player ... and now I have to figure out how to control everything.

I've actually switched to my Ipaq handheld and purchased the RemoteControl II software to use as my new remote (I was no longer using the Ipaq for anything).

However, I'm having difficulty deciding which way to go on my PS3 controls. I purchased some cables made by Arsenal that included a USB remote but so far, the control of the PS3 has been less than reliable using this with my Ipaq.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a low-cost solution? I've read the reviews but can't determine which is the best choice. I'm probably more price conscience but want something that will provide reliable results. Anybody????

How about the PS3IR-500? Cheapest of the full-featured adapters.

The PS3IR500 is probably the way I was leaning ... but I'm not quite clear on what I loose between it and the 1000? Honestly, I'm just looking for the basic DVD controls - and the on/off feature would be nice too.

The biggest 1000 features are power sensing and the ability to teach a learning remote.

Both the 500 and the 1000 will provide full control of the DVD/BD playback features of the PS3. Both will provide the basic ability to turn it on and off.

My review does have a complete comparison chart that shows exactly what the differences are...

I think you should just have the link to this section take you to the review first.   :)

Is the PS3IR-500 still for sale?
