Hi,

I located the following IR commands on the web to use with my VU+ box. The other commands work fine, but these cursor commands either are not received or send the command twice. I believe there are tools to allow these to be corrected, but would appreciate some help to sort it?

The tools you are looking for are the IRTool and MakeHex.

IRTool will tell you which Protocol and Device ID is being used.

You can then input the Protocol and Device ID in to MakeHex. MakeHex will provide you with list of hex codes you can test on your device.

IRTool and MakeHex are available in the file area. A forum search will hopefully provide you with a guide to using these tools. I would give more info on these tools, but only used them a couple of times myself.

You'll also require the DecodeIR.DLL file. The DLL needs to be copied to the same directory as the IRTool.

MakeHex is a command line tool, but there is a GUI front end available.

EDIT: Take a look at post 5 at this link

www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/prontopro/thread.cgi

If you get as far as CCF Panels, you will require PEP1. PEP2 does not import CCF files (unfortunately!)

Hi,

I used the instructions to generate the four cursor commands, buy they are totally different to the originals, and don't work.

When loading a sample into IR Tool, I get

Protocol: MCE
Device 38.82
OBC 90
EFC 224

These are the four cursor key codes generated from makehex:-

Device Code: 38.82 Function: 88

That is because you are using the wrong IRP file in Makehex.

The codes in post 3 are XMP1 protocol codes.

Use the MCE .IRP file.

Cheers
Jason

Hi Jason,
That's just the job. Once I've identified each command, I'll post on here with an update.

Also, thanks to 2Many for pointing me in the right direction.

Cheers, Lee

Hi Jason,

Thanks for getting back. For some reason, I now can't get the originals working, but those cursor commands you posted above are perfect.

Do you have the other commands?

Do you mean post 4 or 6 codes?

If you mean Post 6.

I don't have the codes but if you decode each of your learnt hex codes with IRTools and by using the OBC (Function) number and then convert it to a hex number you can use those short hex codes.

E.G.
Cursor Up is OBC (Function number) 88 in decimal.
Convert 88 to hex using Windows Caculator set to Scientific Mode.
88 = 58 (Hex)

All you have to do is edit the hex byte in bold (FF) below to 58,
626A 0000 0000 0002 0026 00FF 8052 0000

I.E.
626A 0000 0000 0002 0026 0058 8052 0000

Repeat the above for all learnt codes.

Hi Jason,

Yes it was post 6.

Those shortened codes are absolutely perfect. They also seem to work better and allow repeating characters, like numbers to work.

Thanks for all your help.

I'll post all the shortened codes when I'm finished.

Cheers, Lee

Yeah, they will eliminate the Toggle Bit problem.

Glad they work for you!

Hi,

For anyone else with a VU+ box, here are the hex values to replace in this code

626A 0000 0000 0002 0026 00FF 8052 0000

Simply replace the FF with the appropriate Hex value.

Massive thanks to Jason for all his assistance with this. Top bloke!

These 626A 0000 0000 0002 0026 0058 8052 0000 etc. IR Codes doesn't work for my Pronto RU980, what did I wrong? ProntoProEdit say "Invalid IR Code".

Yeah, they won't work in PPENG.

You need to use codes like in post 4. Do those codes work ok?

Are you having problems learning them?

Try this,

Thanks for your answer.

Links in post4 show the same issues as the ones I've learned. Sometime they work, sometimes not, sometimes they send the code 2x.

I tried a workaround that woreked for me:
Learning codes --> pressing Cursor up + fast forward:
