Here's what I can tell you about the forthcoming Pronto TSU9400 for now: it will have a QVGA portrait display (240x320) with the same capabilities as the TSU9600 (minus sound).

More later leading up to its official announcement...

And, as Daniel has indicated in the NG forum, it is portrait rather than landscape. This makes migration from the NG series a breeze.

Ooooh... that would make it very interesting indeed. If it were easy to migrate an existing PCF and it can also use serial commands (hopefully 2-way), that would make it very tempting indeed.

EDIT: and, if it is easier to operate w/ one hand (since it is portrait), that would be a nice additional selling point! Resolution wouldn't be as sharp, but buttons can only be made so small. It's not like you can browse the web with it...

I just signed up for the Pronto classes being held at CEDIA, the 1st week of Sept.

Here is the info from the CEDIA Expo booklet.

The Advanced 2-way class sounds pretty interesting.

Release - I haven't heard, but based on previous Pronto releases I would suspect general availability by fall... maybe even early fall.

PCF import - again I don't know for sure, but based on the TSU9600 and what I know of the differences between XCF and PCF files, I would expect a 1:1 perfect import. Plug-n-play...

I imported my 7000's PCF into my 9600, and it worked without any change.

However, from memory, there was some overlap with the System area and I had to move some buttons down a bit.

Of course, because the 9600 has a higher resolution, everything was a quarter the size. This won't be a problem withteh 9400.

Daniel are you beta testing the 9400?

A TSU9600 is 11% bigger than a TSU7500. The screen has the same size so it means more plastic around. Can you tell the size of a 9400?

It's encouraging to know that PCFs port well to the TSU9600.

I still have unpleasant memories when I ported my TS1000 CCF to a TSU3000. In addition to many problems many folks had with the early TSU3000, I'm one of the few that had a projector controlled by the Somfy remote. It took forever before I could get the TSU3000 to operate the Somfy. I guess this is a good "acid" test.... Does anyone here own a Somfy IRT 103 remote, and have you successfully gotten the TSU9600 to replicate the Somfy's up/down/stop commands?

Moving from a TSU3000 to a TSU7000 was much easier. Only graphics-related work had to be done. It's sounding like going from a TSU7000 to a TSU9600 is almost just as easy? Except, of course, changes for graphics, and to take advantage of any new capabilities.
