Hi,

I have a Pronto RU990 and would like to learn how to create png files specifically for channel logos available for the Sky TV service.

I have found a great site for the master station icons [Link: lyngsat-logo.com]

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 which I hope will be compatible.

To be specific I would like to embed the channel logo onto a suitably sized button like this...

A pointer on how to make suitable png files would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you actually mean you need a tutorial on how to create graphics, and you happened to specify png files, leading to the above totally adequate and accurate response that wasn't at all what you wanted to know?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded a package of buttons that include the logo of many British TV stations. The author also included rudimentary instructions on how to create your own but because of my inexperience in doing this I'm not sure the exact steps required.

He has supplied a blank 'master' button onto which I need to place a resized bmp or jpg for the station. Then 'flatten' the image and save it. That, in essence was the instruction.

If you or anyone could provide a step by step guide to achieve this using Photoshop Elements 14 I'd appreciate it.
Cheers,
Ray.

I cant help you with photoshop and i dont really have time to teach you fireworks (what i use). The best place to learn these applications is lynda.com.

If you just want to make channel buttons you can use copilot. It lets you select your blank button and then the station logo graphics and it "merges" them into png files for use on your touchscreen.

Hey Ray,

I'll make it easy for you if you like. I wrote my own version of CoPilot that has a key difference. If you use a 50% transparent button, it does not put the logo on at 50% transparency like their software does.

You can simply send me the up / down state buttons you want to use, and the country you need icons for. I wrote something to go get all those channel icons for me too. No need to pick and choose them individually.

Literally a minutes worth of work and a few mouse clicks on my end. You can send me just the buttons if you want them to have a specific look like the ones on the screenshot. I think you can export them from PEP as well.

The thing is, you need the white background to be removed from the logos first, and I have something for that as well.

Hi gwstudios,

I'm very embarrassed to have missed your very helpful post. You must think me very rude but the honest answer is I never received an email notifying me of a reply and other events meant I overlooked any further replies.

Does your offer still stand? if so I'll supply the Sky channel idents and let you know.

I've just had a look through the Lyngsat site and all the ones I need are in one location. I don't need them all but if your process is automatic perhaps it's easier for you to just process them all. Here is the site:-

You can just literally change the file or convert the file into png. Maybe you mean how to actually create a png file?

Hes asking about taking television logos and superimposing them over a button graphic to use as a favorite channel button.

.png is only important because many button graphics have edges that aren't simple/sharp so you need transparency to see the graphic behind it.

This example shows source logos on white buttons with rounded edges.
