Really depends on the customer. I usually do so rudimentary programming and let them get used to it for a bit and then work with them on what they'd like to see. I usually always start with the 7 button layout and fine tune after. I find by letting them live with the system for a couple weeks, I'm doing less reprogramming.

Best to start out basic and let the clients get used to it, then come back and do a rev to get it EXACTLY where they want it.
Unless it is a simple single load, which I program like a standard toggle switch, I tend to use all the buttons on a cameo.
I'll throw a Goodnight, Good morning, and Away scene in the bedrooms and by the front door...though I don't know if that helps with a boathouse. I guess you can do a Boathouse off by the entrance.
