I'll let you know Saturday how the 990 compares to the 4000 :-)

Ughh. Ok 😅
I actually did a simple template for the 4000 just yesterday. What can I tell ya, I was bored 😂. This hobby is killing me.

I have to say once I got familiar with the new layout I absolutely love this remote. Works fine handheld or sitting on the couch. And the IR dispersion as mentioned by Dennis is phenomenal, something that bugged me on the 990. I removed the battery from the 990 to preserve it as best possible.

One thing I miss is anytime I download a new design I have to manually redo the date and time, unlike the 990 which would sync it automatically after the download. Also there's no time option with seconds.

I think I'll be tweaking the design for a long time it's so much fun :-)

If you go into the remotes settings and turn on the wifi, it will set the date and time automatically. I haven't seen a noticeable hit on the battery life after turning it on, though I am sure there is one.

My WI-FI is on but originally not connected. I tried by connecting to free-trial Spectrum, but even though the WI-FI indicator shows full strength it still doesn't update automatically. How long does it take to update for you? Are you actually connected to a server you use?

I am just connected to my home wifi, not a dedicated server. I didn't notice right away that the time was syncing so I am not sure how long it takes.

OK, but you were actively logged in to your Wi-Fi, whereas I didn't do anything active.

I have to say I'm really impressed with the IR power. I can point it away and still activates the TV's receptor.
