I have a brand new MRX-2 that I am planning to add to my HT, and it came with an unused CC Control setup code for iOS (scratch cover over the code is still intact). Do I need to set up the MRX-2 with the CC software on my PC before I attempt to authorize the MRX-2 for use with the iOS app? I plugged in the MRX-2 to my local network and powered it up, but when I open the CC Control app on my iPad I get the error message "a configuration file has not been downloaded to this device. This application must be configured by a professional installer before it will operate with your system."

My confusion is with the file not downloaded to this device, which I assume to mean the iPAd, which implies that I somehow need to copy the MRX-2 configuration file to the iPad before it will allow me to authorize the MRX-2 for use with the iOS app.

I have experience programming some of the older non-IP capable devices with CCC (MX-980, MSC-400), but since none of them were network capable, I never used the iPad as a control point.

Any input or comments on this would be much appreciated.

I should also mention that I was able to get a login for the CCC software courtesy of the notice I read here, for which I am very grateful!), so I am god to go on that front.

Yes, you should setup your MRX-2 and your iOS device in the Complete Control software, the same way you would as if you were using a base station and remote. The difference here is that the iOS device (the "remote") doesn't require downloading a configuration file in the same way a MX remote would.

Once you have programmed your system, you will need to download the proper URC app on your iOS device. The MRX will basically send config info to the app on your iOS device when you open the app.

I hope this is helpful!

Damon, thanks for the tips. I suspected that the MRX-2 and my iPad would need a basic setup first before the CC Control app would recognize the MRX-2 on my home network, so thank for confirming that for me.

Luckily, I was able to download the CC Control app while it was still supported by URC, so it still appears in my purchased apps list. I am not able to run it on my iPhone, so I assume there was either an iPhone version or that the iPad was the only version offered. There seems to be some confusion as to the app itself with regard to iOS devices-it is my understanding that the setup code is specific to the MRX-2, not the iOS device, and that any iOS device with the CC Control App is able to control the MRX-2 that is authorized with the setup code. If that is not the case and control is limited to the specific device used to do the setup, please let me know. Thanks!
