For me, I had hopes of a MX-5000 replacement that included two MAIN and numeric buttons like the MX-980. Till then will continue with my MX-980's. Too bad my MX-5000 does not have more modern Yamaha tools so I could see the volume level on the remote from my AVP.

Over the years our customers have made it clear that having more than one "main" button confused them more than it helped. You and I tend to categorize things in our thoughts, but it turns out that most people don't, so for the average homeowner, one Main button is the way to go. (And to be honest, I've even done quite a bit of research on whether or not even having even *one* Main button confuses people. Spoiler alert: It confuses a lot of people.) As for the numeric keypad; when we released the MX-5000, we probably jumped the gun on removing the hard numeric keypad in favor of the onscreen one. But the writing was on the wall, and these days there are far more devices that have no use for a numeric keypad at all than ones that warrant hard keys for one. I certainly wouldn't rule out there being a future wand-style remote with a hard keypad, but the entire industry trend is most definitely moving the other way.

Very nice to see someone from URC posting here.

I understand about one “Main Button” but in my case of 21 sources in the home theater the more buttons make using the MX-980 more convenient. Have all my devices on the left Main and all my Favs on the right main. Use the numeric buttons to jump straight to the desired activity page when Favs is selected. On the MX-5000 did similar on the Home screen with a Devices icon and Activity icon.

Been watching what Unfolded Circle with the Remote Two is doing. If there is 2 way data via IP and I can see the volume level of my AVP then I will be real interested, if not then it will be a pass.

We only do 2-way volume in the Total Control Lite and Total Control lines, unfortunately.

The voice control via Xfinity or Alexa, do you have choice of one, or can both be available at the same time?

You set up a "remote-wide" voice control option (most people use Alexa), but then inside a module like Apple TV (Siri) or Comcast Xfinity, you can use their native voice control.

Apple TV? You are talking about TC then, not the MX-1400? There hasn't been any info about additional voice control on the MX-1400 yet (unless you are leaking something for us). We're all hoping.

"Inside a module", can you be a little more detailed, as to what that means?

When you're controlling a device by voice, the remote is running software that handles that task. Because this is similar to how Total Control handles voice control, we refer to it as a module.

I called URC support, they said the button moving feature is not available at this time for the MX-1400.

Any training videos or owners manual for the MX-1400?

I was talking to my local dealer today and he saw a promo on URC where you can get the Mx-1400 for the same price as the MX-990. I just bought a 990 off ebay but it wouldn't program so it is going back My dealer is going to give me a deal on the 990 when he mentioned this promo. Any thoughts on this vs the 990? I realize it will be missing the number pad but I assume there is a way to add them in the touch screen for channel control on the cable box? I just started playing with it in CCP so haven't gotten that far.

I did play with what I assume was the trc-1480 they had on display and it seemed like swiping between pages on the touch screen was really laggy compared to what we are used to on a phone.

BTW, I am coming from my tried and true Mx-850 which I love. I had an MX-780 that I never warmed up to, and then the screen died.
