Ok, I might’ve mixed up with needing WMDC because I also had a mx980 then.
I still cannot connect my 990 and I’ve tried a different cable and hub. I still do not see “Mobile Devices/URC USB SYNC” on Device Manager. Is it suppose to show?

No.
Under Windows 11 when you connect your MX990 to the computer, the remote will ding and that's it. Nothing shows under Device Manager. Nothing!

If you want to test, open CCP and create a new file. Then under communication, click upload from remote. Select an MX-990. Within a few seconds you should see the upload message begin and the screen on the remote change.

I just grabbed an MX-990 off the shelf and plugged into my Windows 11 Pro machine. Watching the Device Manager screen, it refreshes as soon as I plug the MX-990 in (and the MX-990 dings). But no new devices show in the Device Manager. Everything works fine in the CCP software for it.

I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Thank you for making that clear.

When I plug in the remote I hear a "ding" all the time but still cannot connect, so therefore it shouldn't be a faulty cable, correct?

I also reinstalled SW from URC website.

Not necessarily. The ding the remote makes is it receiving power and is charging. That doesn't mean the data connection is working. In fact, if you are not using the original cable that came with the remote, there is a chance you grabbed a charging 'only' cable that doesn't have data lines in it (common cable these days).

So make sure you are using a USB cable that is meant for data transfer.
There hasn't been any issues with current gen remotes connecting to CCP software running under Windows 10 or 11 that I have seen in the last few years. None.

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure the CCP software is running as an administrator. Right-click the program and select "Run as administrator".

I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

I'm using the original usb cable but I ordered another yesterday just to be sure.

I found an older laptop (Win 7) with with CCP still loaded so I tried connecting but still the same result, so it must be the cable. I'm also running as administrator.

Thanks again for your help. Will post results when new cable arrives...

The new cable also didn’t work so I just decided to factory reset my laptop and that solved the problem. I’m almost 100% sure that I didn’t change any settings previously so I don’t know what the issue could’ve been.
