I emailed UniversalRemote tech support and asked them
if I would be able to download the software if I bought
the remote from Amazon.com.
They said Amazon is an authorized dealer, so tech support
would give me the software if I emailed them a copy of
the receipt.
I have 2 questions:
1) Do you think they will honor this?
2) If they do, is it going to be crippled software without
the live update?
Yes. They did so for me, and it was updatable.
