pclark- I don't believe that the installer only methology is to be a putdown on the smart consumers, but a way to gain dealer loyalty. I believe that what UEI is trying to do is to provide dealers with a remote (similar to RTI) that has to be purchased through a dealer (without internet sales). What this does is allow a dealer to get the sale and make a little bit of $ on the sale. It's very frustrating putting out a proposal, only to have the potential customer look online and find some weird shop selling the same item for dirt cheap (many times it's right at or below the cost of what a dealer can purchase at). This is a way of offering "price protection" for the dealers. Just my $.02
