I just did a meridian system with the RP-6 and a CM232 cable and used a T3
The customers have 2 sons..they like to turn it up, in the startup of the meridian I have it issue a Set vol command to a low volume..this way when the parents come home and the kids shut off the system in a hurry the volume defaults back to a normal level when powered back up
and as Proggieus mentioned..for multiroom control when no KP in room
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
