Even if the Nevo kept track of variables such as the last
status transmitted, it still wouldn't be perfect coz my
kids would have turned a device on/off manually in-between
using the remote. Also, on several bits of my kit, the
on/off command is the same so if the device is already
on and I use a macro like 'watch DVD', it turns the amp
off because it was previously being used to listen to
music.
Utopia would be for the remote to interrogate the device
to establish its state. Then you could include all sorts
of if..then commands into the remote control's programming.
Does this exist anywhere on any home theatre kit?

On a small scale RTI can handle it, on a grand scale AMX or Crestron.
