Here's a few ideas........
You can leave the computer on all the time. Just turn off the monitor, either by the switch, or have the computer turn it off in the screen properties.
Or if you have a windows 98 OS, then just go out and buy an APC UPS, attach it to the computer with the software. Then buy a x-10 remote controlled outlet. Plug the UPS into that outlet. To turn on the computer, just press the off button on the remote for the x-10 system. For some reason, if the computer is off, the UPS will turn the computer on just to run the "powerchute" software. But make sure that you go to the computer with in a minute, or else it will turn itself off again.
