Apparently there is somewhere that I can change
a system and command value

If that is a distorted quote of something you were told or read somewhere, any chance of a more accurate quote or a link to whatever it was that you read?

In ProntoEdit you can easily select the system and command values for an RC5 or RC6 signal. But those values must be ones that mean something to your device, or it won't do you any good to make your Pronto send them.

I assume from the symptom you describe, that the two devices share at least one command. Maybe one of the devices has some method to switch it to an alternate code set (make it expect a different system value). But you'd need to get that information from the manufacturer. There is no generic method worth trying.

but I can't find it.
Does any of this make sense to anyone? And, can
anyone help?

It doesn't make enough sense to give a solid answer.

You should post some samples of Pronto hex from both devices including the problem command.

Some of the Linn devices in CCF files use RC5x protocol as well as RC5. If the other device doesn't duplicate that, you may be able to find RC5x commands that do some operations that are now problems with RC5.
