Quoted from the article you linked to:
While this goes a long way towards creating reliable discrete
operation under most situations, the PS3 makes it impossible
to bulletproof as shutdown involves multiple steps using
a menu whose options change, depending on whether a game
is being played or not. If the macro is triggered from
within a game, or if the console is turned off manually,
it can’t work correctly.
Tweet is a CI Salti.... Although good enough for home
use, an end user like you or myself, the IR4PS3 (or any
other of the current work arounds) just simply isn't a
bulletproof solution for CIs. It's all about the service
call for these guys.
On a side note... This is honestly the first time I noticed
a regular from the Harmony forum venturing outside that
clique. Welcome to RC...lol. sooo kidding.
In my post I said, in part, "I would observe that the article is slightly out of date and the packaging is nicer and easier then discussed.
Whether in a game or watching a BD or in the XMB it is a one click command to power down the PS3."
I was correct in both of those statements. In fact, whether watching a movie, in the PS3 Menu, or playing a game, the PS3 turns off when I leave the Harmony Activity or when I Power all down. The article is indeed "old" and mistaken, as I said.
I apologize, but I don't know what a CI is but the IR4PS was a nice improvement over my old USB dongle and the IR4PS3 can be located anywhere in IR "sight" of the remote without regard to position re the pS3 because it makes those communications via BT.
Thanks for the welcome.
