You will probably have to make another macro to turn the DVD off. As I said, turning off and then on again has happened to others, with many different brands, so we don't really know what is causing it, but it is not a common problem.
It shouldn't make a difference if you "teach" the power command to a power key or another key; the main difference is that it is a learned command and not a preprogrammed command, which I guess sometimes makes a difference.
Granted, there are a few "quirks" with the 3000, but overall it is a superior remote. Once you get over the initial hurdles you will really appreciate it.
