Think of the 4x5 grid not as a Template but as a RULE on how you can build your OWN template.

Are these 48 symbols Alphanumeric Size or can they they be Button Size (or the whole button Icon itself)?

What contains, for example, a large button sized "Double Right Arrow"? The Template or the symbols?

If the Template is strictly a layout and the "symbols" define the shape (or bitmap of those buttons) then it's not as restrictive as I thought. However if the template defines the shape of the button (like a double arrow) then I think it's more restrictive than the HK scheme (at least for the moment).
