Folks-
When speaking about the supposed release of the pronto edit software, and the complaints that people have about Philips not releasing a larger amount of the beta versions to the general public...keep in mind that-
Philips is a CE company whose greatest claim to fame was/is selling low-end TVs into hotels, and the develpoment of fine shavers and light bulbs. It is too bad that they can no longer rest on their laurels of having developed the cassete tape or CD mediums, that occured far too long ago. The management above the great developers and engineers involved with the Pronto project are not in the least bit familiar with the "Silicon Valley" mindset or US hi-tech firm way of doing business. Again, their collective fortes are shavers and light bulbs. It is simply a situation whereby a large Company barrels it's way into Silicon Valley, harvests great talent from the local pool, releases 5K products that are "killed" 5 mos after release, and then fumbles with the merits of immediate release of the "more than ready" software. It simply is not within their ability, to comprehend the many merits of the software and the means with which to deliver it.

When doing business in a foreign land, it is far better to embrace the host's culture, than to attempt to seduce it.
