You'll find the IR output of Pronto to be strong and broad. I doubt you'll have any problems with directionality.
Having broad coverage is a necessary part of providing good macro support, since the user may activate a macro and put the unit down while a macro is still playing. Since you can't guarentee what angle the remote will be at relative to the equipment, it's important that the coverage is broad so the macro executes to completion correctly.
