That "vendor code" would give the device number if it is correct, but I don't trust "1234". That value has me worried that whoever wrote the documentation put that in as a placeholder until they could find the correct value, then forgot to change it.

My first guess for protocol would be nec1. If "1234" is correct, it means device number 18.52

1234 is indeed the vendor code that comes up when this remote is tested on an IR detector.

Is there a list somewhere that ties vendor codes to their particular brands?

I am programming the UEI C4000. By matching the device code's vendor#, I have been able to copy Magnavox DVD keys [Skip+/-] that were absent from their TV/DVD profile.
