A "repeating key" keeps sending a signal (not necessarily the same as the original ) when you hold it down. Volume up and volume down normally repeat. Some commands are basically meaningless to repeat (like discrete selection of inputs), but often the remote repeats the signal anyhow.
I see, pretty sure buttons do repeat but winlirc with a windows media center receiver picks up codes realy quickly & perhaps that doesn't give it a chance to send a repeat within the capture window?
