For those that vote for the Sony…why?

From a little bit of reading, the JVC beat the Sony in PQ and lumens over the last year or so. The release of the Sony 6000 seemed to remedy the lumens war between the 2 brands, and now seem equal. But the contrast ratio seems to be better on the JVC? The JVC does cost a little more.

As one of the Judges (and setup personal) at the Value Electronics PNJ Shootout last December here is my take on this.

IMO; yes the JVC won (black level and detail as I recall were the reasons), but as mentioned the Sony was less money and damn close in results.

It is also important to note that there was minimal "out of the box" adjustments on the Shootout samples (time would not allow).

Both have awesome support, JVC has great in-house Reps (Chris Deutsch and Patrick Seibert know their stuff) and support.

Sony has same, and offers tremendous control options and (I think) can be ISF'ed to a higher level.

Picking either the two brands will not leave you disappointed.

In all price class comparisons there was definite reasons to buy up (JVC had 4 units, Sony had 3, entry level JVC was still a traditional bulb), and the Sony often straddled class price points.

In short get the one that is available through your trusted Rep network.

It is also worth checking which one has the best compatibility with your control system of choice.
