Can I send digital coax (SPIDIF) over a basic analog balun?
It is 2 channel from a DA system going from one rack to another (~60'). Was previously done via coax but I needed to retask that wire to feed a cable box. There are a couple of unused cats in place between A-B.
Local distributor is OOS on digital audio baluns (Thursday at the earliest). Was hoping to wrap up the job tomorrow and I have a whole bunch of analog audio and camera baluns kicking around.
In my mind it shouldn't be a problem. Crappy old camera baluns will send HD video for TVI systems, digital audio shouldn't be a big deal.
One of those dumb things I swear worked back in the day, haven't had to deal with it for years and am drawing a blank.
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.
