All EZRJ45 connectors eventually fail because they are open on the end allowing environmental contaminants to corrode the connection, don’t use them.
Possible I suppose but it's now 2014 and the wiring in my home from 2003 (using EZ connectors) shows no sign of corrosion.
And the issue with 5 versus 6 is conductor size. If the size of the conductors in the cable is within the specs of the connector then all should be good.
But you cannot just assume that is the case.
