Imagine if you will if it was made legal that anyone from the Americas was allowed to work in any part of the Americas... How would that affect you and your jobs and community? that's what our UK government did effectively with europe countries so we have people from areas such as Poland willing to do work for low pay legally and off the books and to claim on our welfare system and send money back home .. this has made ghettos in many places.

Unfortunately if you raise these simple questions in a reasonable and fair manner .. calls of xenophobia or racist are often used as a defence however offensive that may be.

don't know man, Maybe we are not doing as badly economically, maybe my world has always been more cosmopolitan (growing up around Montreal and going to school with kids from diverse backgrounds) maybe it is because my parents where immigrants looking for a better life, maybe it was because I always worked with a variety of people. But to me it does not make much sense.

Hell, I used to work for a large multinational, and most of the people in the department where immigrants (brought in for their respective positions) and two years ago the company ended the contract with one of my friends because they wanted to bring a guy from Chicago to replace him. When my friend was showing him the ropes instead of hard feelings for stealing his job he invited him over to have a beer with us when we went out. Since then this guy has become a regular for our Thursday night drinks. It is way more fun being friends than holding a grudge. he did not have a choice, it was either move to Canada from the US or lose his job, so he was not the bad guy.

Personally I would blame the cheap people that hire them and are willing to pay them under the table more than the guy accepting a crappy job just to put food on his table and feed his family.
