Although there are no Pronto developments yet to be seen at CES, Philips will be showcasing an array of new consumer-level remote controls starting tomorrow on the show floor. There are four new models that will be on display, all sporting color LCD screens and on-screen setup wizards.
Philips SRU6110
The first such remote is the SRU6110 – and if your current remote keeps dropping between the couch cushions then this could be the perfect solution for you. With a “bold, wedge-shaped configuration” the SRU6110 otherwise looks like a large stone tablet, with a 2” LCD screen set into the middle and a vast array of hard buttons positioned on the left, right and bottom edges. The 10-device SRU6110 boasts that it requires no PC for configuration – or even a setup manual for that matter – thanks to an intuitive on-screen setup wizard.
The SRU6110 also features 280 built-in television channel icons for favorite channels, different settings for five separate users, a built-in code database, infrared code learning and support for macros. The SRU6110 will be available Q2 2008 at a suggested list price of $129.99 USD.
Philips Prestigo SRU8015, SRU8112 & SRU8008
This new series of Prestigo universal remote controls from Philips all feature traditional “stick” hard buttoned designs with color LCD screens – a 2.0” display on the SRU8015 and SRU8112, and a smaller 1.4” display on the SRU8008.
The SRU8015 and SRU8112 both have the ability to show network icons for a user’s favorite channels, with hundreds included to choose from. The SRU8015 and SRU8008 both sport a rotary cursor control wheel for fast menu navigation, and are finished in an elegant gloss black design. The premium SRU8015 comes with premium hard plastic buttons, with the other remotes using more traditional rubber keys. The SRU8112 features a dual-tone black and grey color scheme, and instead of the cursor wheel uses adjacent hard buttons for navigating the LCD display.
All three units sport an on-screen setup wizard to easily create devices and activities, while extra functionality can be quickly added with custom labels. These Prestigo remotes also include a built-in preprogrammed code database, full infrared code learning and support for macros.
The SRU8015 is priced at $149.99 USD and is available now, while the SRU8112 and SRU8008 will both retail at $99.99 and will be available Q2 2008.
Two DACs, a delay module and extender kit highlight new offerings.
Features push-to-talk voice control of Amazon Alexa and Apple TV via Siri.
