A Bug's Life: CE
(29 votes)
Location:Chapters 1, 15, 32-34
Features:Dolby Digital 5.1
Description:I can't believe no one has posted this one yet. Visually and aurally, this is just about one of the best DVDs you're going to find. Ch. 1 is a good example of the great ambient effects heard throughout the disc (wind, birds, rustling grass, insects moving about). Ch. 15 has some great bass and fly-bys as the bugs battle the attacking bird (personal favorite here is where Princess Atta's group of ants are making their way to the dry riverbed to see what's going on and you hear one of the female bugs screaming in the distance to the back-left). Ch. 32-34 is awesome first because of the sound of raindrops hitting all around you (especially impressive as they're flying over the water and you hear the "bloop, kerplunk" sounds surrounding you). Later, as the bugs fly away in triumph, note the awesome sound of the seed fireworks as they collide and explode in midair!

Includes excerpt of the Salvador Dali opera poema "Etre Dieu". This demonstrates his work in surreal pictures and sound. Totally mind blowing. Another must from www.amazon.de

Amelie from Montmartre
(5 votes)
Location:whole movie
Features:exceptional rich soundfield
Description:I can only decribe the German audio track as my video rental did not offer a multilingual version, but: I've never seen or heard a movie where the rear channels are _that_ busy ! The dialogues are quieter than usual (in synch'd soundtracks) and this is definitly _not_ an action movie , but there are tons of ambient noises (rain, wind in the trees, fountains in the parks, mopeds and voices all around in the streets and markets of Paris; particularly impressive are the railway station scenes - steel buildings produce a lot of subsonic rumble when a train rolls by :-)). This movie really "pulls" you into the screen action ! The picture quality is more than OK, too, though not exceptional.
