I bet they are making about $5-$10 per switch. It's basically a Spacer with a MRF built in and hardwired IR From the MRF to the Switch. just on a small scale. However, setting the idea takes a little be of smarts.

I still can't get it to work.

Works Perfectly!

You have to make sure and set the output for the lighting commands to Standalone mode, after that, works great!

Can the RTI control regular Radio Ra switches? Or does it have to be the URC 433 version?

Sure it can, but you'll have to use either the Chronos or RS232 interface.

Or, if you wanted to get really simple, you could use the Muffy's contact closure port for alarms, of course you would only get one scene out of it, but hey, it could be fun.

You'll love this.

After reading this post I swapped out the spacer in my bedroom with an MRFB-600 and set it up with my old T2-C (it got relegated to the bedroom after the T2CZ came to town). The setup works great as many others have posted. Except.... my girlfriend noticed that the light was turning on sporadically when no one was in the room. For a day or two I thought she must have forgotten to turn the light off. Then it started turning on all the time, especially around 6:00 AM. I would keep hitting the off button on the remote, and then 10 seconds later it would turn on again. This was solved by pulling the FASS.

So you would think, "that's a no brainer, your neighbor has a switch set to the same address." That could be the case, but seeing as how I live in ghetto East LA where the median household income is less than the value of my car, I would think it's unlikely. Just to make sure I changed the address a couple of times, confirming each time that it is not receiving the old commands, and the problem persists. Has anyone else come across another remote or source of RF that could trigger this? I suppose I could just swap the dimmer out for the old spacer, but what fun would that be?

This same issue came up when I first installed a few in my Family Room. I was using a URC solution for control, but we had some weird lights changing thing going on. I think it can occur with noise on the power lines, or RF interference. This was happening for about a week, but has been fine ever since.

Because it fixed itself, I never had the opportunity to really diagnose the problem.

One of mine did that for a while, so I changed addresses a few times untill I got a clean one. I think it might be car alarm remotes, Audivox's opperate at 433Mhz also. They have such a short range, that in a house, it shouldn't be a problem, but in an apartment or tight neighborhood with smaller homes, I could see it causing some chaos.

When this first happened, I called URC's tech support, they were pretty useless in this instance,(normally they are great, just not with this problem). Next I tried Lutron, after all, they make the dimmers, again, hit a brick wall of ignorance and/or they just didn't care,(again, very unusual for them). I was told that since they, Lutron, didn't sell the dimmer, they didn't support, they just OEM'd it for URC. Finally, I called RTI, who doesn't make the dimmer, but offered the most helpful advice and seemed the most competent, wanting to help over the phone.

Moral of the story; if you buy a product made by Company A for Company B and you need to get tech help for it, give Company C a try first, because A will tell you to call B and B has no clue because they didn't make it and will tell you to call A back.

Thanks for the feedback. Car alarm remotes seems highly likely as it is a dense neighborhood. I will try all addresses exhaustively for a few days each and see what happens.

same issue with unintentional turn ons at my gf's apt ... also in an area that would not have other lighting nor even universal controls .... have changed freq channels multiple times .... all 3 dimmers come on at just before 4pm and 4am almost everyday.

5th story of an apt building so I'm not sure that car alarms would be a factor. Maybe alarm system in the Commercial Space (Staples) on the first floor? Maybe LGA airport a couple miles away? Maybe ghost in the machine?

about to go pull them out if I can't solve it.
