Thanks, thought I'd make it easier and created a drop for the files

Download Here:
[Link: drop.io]

Drop.io is like photo bucket, simple goto http://www.drop.io, create a name for your link, add files to upload and go. You can also add passwords if you'd like.

Very cool, thanks. Also, you will want to goto URC Control Room and d/l the user's manual. The dimmer's set up a little differently than Ra or Spacer.

So, does it work? Has anyone tried. I can see how these could be learned, that's how URC says to teach it to their lower end remotes, but then you have to set the output to RF. Does RTI handle RF the same, since when you are using RF with RTI it is set as a RF trigger code? That's still just sending a short burst RF signal to trigger that command on the Processor, right? So it should work.

I asked URC about this months ago and was told it would only work with URC remotes and no chance RTI would ever control them nor any other remotes

I dont know why they would say that, as it would inscrease sales on the switches

Well thats good news...RTI controlling URC switches

Easy, they, like many other companies, would rather cut off their own nose to spite their face. Not seeing the potential to sell more dimmers (or iPod docks). They think that they will sway people to buy/sell URC over RTI and others because they are the only ones to offer these options... little do they realize, that most of us would spend the next "2weeks" to 2 years to find a work around rather than sell URC remotes.

Forgive me, but...

Are you telling me that I can drop one of these commands onto a button on an RF enabled RTI remote, and it will control these dimmers via RF NOT IR?

Are you sure the remote wasn't firing that code as IR?

Take the remote into another room and see if it still controls the dimmer... please.

Umm, no. There is no IR input on the dimmers, so even if the remote was firing IR, there would be no way for the dimmer to receive it.

RTI has been doing this for years with Crestron and AMX RF systems.

Cool...

Safe to assume that the new Ziggby stuff will NOT control the URC dimmers?

... because they aren't 433Mhz...

Read first post and follow instructions. Also, are you a integrator or end user?

I'm late to this party, I've got two units in my truck which I never got around to using with URC, but with RTI I'll give it a go. Part #MRFA-600M-URC-WH, is this compatible with these hex codes? I see a "A" in the part number, I hope I'm not SOL.

I'll e-mail you soon for the codes.

Thanks

You would need the MRFB for it to work. Sorry. Off the shelf URC operates at 418, while RTI is at 433. However, international versions are reversed, URC at 433 and RTI at 418, go figure.

URC started selling the 433 versions her a couple of years ago. When they came out with the dimmers, they offered both versions, much to our delight.

Now all we need is a Zigbee Lutron dimmer.

For some reason I just can't get this to work. The switch seems to be refusing to take an address. WTF? The switch says that its a MRFB model.

I have tried a few different ID Codes from the list, 1, 2, 10.

I don't have to do anything else with the RTI remote right, just make sure that is output is set to RF Trigger?

URC is not in the business of selling lighting, they are in the business of selling remote control solutions. They use the lighting as a vehicle to sell the remotes, not the only way again. In fact, they could be losing money on every switch they sell just to make the remotes more attractive. So I doubt they want to advertise, condone or endorse the use of the switches with other remotes. We don't know what URC's percentage of profit per switch is nor do we know what it cost them in time, research, marketing, mass-production and planning to sell these switches but I venture to say that they are not relying on the sale of switches to be in the black.

This is simply a sweetener and feature of their remotes, not the other way around.
