Hi

Has anyone had any experience with the sharp LC-20AD5E the 20inch aquos LCD.

I have the same problem controlling over the RS232 interface. I can turn the TV off but not on. I don't think I can upgrade the firmware as there is no USB port.

Any suggestions?

Rich

The firmware is specific to the model series- i.e., a 92 series firmware can't be used on a 62 series; a 62 series can't be used on a 64 series; etc.

The firmwares can be found on the sharp website. Just do a search for your model and add the word firmware on the end. Here's a link to the d64u firmware:

Hi everyone

I'm trying to display 1920x1080 on my LC46D92U using my notebook (HP nx9420, ATI radeon x1600). Which is working A1 with my 360 in 1080p, throught DVI (VGA cable and DVI adaptor) or HDMI, so I know that the LCD is good.

Unfortunately the driver (tried old ones and the latest from HP) won't allow me to go higher than 1400x1050. It is actually detecting that as the highest resolution supported (throught DDC or EDID??, whatever).

Is there a firmware update available for my LC46D92U that would make my ATI driver correctly detect the maximum resolution (1920x1080)??

Thanks,
Sly

Are you sure that your video card supports that resolution?

I have the same problem with AD5 series. Using the procedure to unlock the switch on off the tv by rs232 the command still not work and I don't understand why.
Have you found a solution to your problem?

There is no firmware necessary to be able to turn Sharps on via RS232. The RS232 port is turned off by default from the factory when off. The easiest way to resolve this is to send the command "RSPW1 " (3 spaces after the 1) while the TV is on.
This switches the setting and allows the RS-232 port to receive commands while the TV is off.
