Is this firmware, only for the 92 Series? Do you know if the 64 Series also have this problem, and needs a firmware upgrade? If you don't mind I would like to receive the firmware and instrucctions as well. Thanks.

Would it still be possible to get a copy of the firmware update and instructions? I'm having the exact same problem with a LC 52DX1E. It's just ridiculous.

Thanks a lot,
Tom

You shouldn't need it for the 64 series. However, there is a specific command that you have to issue once that enables the power ON to function (it is listed in the serial commands section of the user manual). If you still need the firmware for the d92 series, let me know and I'll send you a copy.

Sharp firmwares are usually cannot be used on models other than the specific one for which it was written. You will probably have to contact tech support and see if they have an upgrade for the model you referenced.

Hi there,

I have been suffering through the rs232 power on command predicament for quite sometime---for the Sharp 52D92U model. Until I saw your forum response….where can I find this firmware upgrade? Or can you email it to me?

Thanks for your help.

I am putting in two of these next week.

Thanks.

Is this a similar issue that is present with the older models?

I recently integrated 2 LCDs from several years back and it was quite easy to disable the energy star default setting. Just send RSPW0001\r with the power on. After that POWR0001/r will turn it on just fine!

I would assume that whatever the protocol/command is, a 0 parameter would be off and a 1 parameter would be on.

I just got a LC-46D92U and am having the same problem, I tried sending the RSPW0001{CR} code but still can't get a response from a POWR0001{CR} so I assume that I need the firmware. Please send me a copy if you can.

Thanks,

Mike

P.S. Is there a way to get the unit to display what firmware is loaded currently?

Hey FASTLs,

I hope this request hasn't gotten to old, but.... Can you please send me the firmware as well?

Another question, will loading this firmware eliminate the need to enter the power save disable command once powered on, or do I still need to do that as well?

Also, my issue relates to the Sharp lc-52d64u, will the same firmware apply to all new Sharps, or are the model specifc?

Any help you could lend would be greatly appreciated, as the IR flasher currenlty stuck to the front of the display is a real turn off.

Thanks again,

Ken

Do you need to send this command just one time to disable the Energy Star default setting or you need to send it every time you send the Power On command? If the second is the case, what delay do you use between commands?

I have not been on for a while. When I am back in the office tonight, I will forward the firmware upgrade to all those who I have not sent to!
