Roadruner: Read the FAQ and look at the file section.
1) It is not done the way you say, but yes you can put any icon on any button as long as it dfits on the page (240x220 I think)
2)as fast (or faster). Faster=pressing buttons 1,2,3 can be done faster in a macro then you might be able to do manualy.

Dear Wael,

I would like to ask you why do you post lies?

I know you personally, and It upsets me what you are doing.

You are not US Philips dealer as stated above, you don't even own a business.
If you are, how come you have only the Euro Prontos? US dealers have US Prontos.

Why do you post lies on your eBay auctions that you sell brighter screens? All SBC RU890 are the same and have excellent screens.

Why do you claim "EVERY PRONTO I SELL UNDER THIS DESCRIPTION WILL BE OR HAS BEEN PHYSICALLY CHECKED TO ENSURE THAT IT IS THE BRIGHTER SCREEN THAT IS SO HARD TO COME BY".
Do you really open each box, take out the pronto, put the batteries in and compare the brightness? If so, you sell open item and not new?....right?

Finally, how come you post here in this Forum that you "HAPPENED" to have only 5 Prontos with MUCH BRIGHTER and crisper LCD screens - and you also posted more than 12 and keep posting on eBay those RARE Prontos that you have?

Just a request, PLEASE stop MISLEADING !

Dear D,
First of all, If you are who I think you are then we are only a few miles from each other. I would like to challenge you to meet and take a look for yourself.

Second, Where does it say above that I am a "US PRONTO DEALER"??? I am a Euro Pronto reseller JUST LIKE YOU.

To answer your question about the thread I posted about having only 5, I opened up one case of 5 to give one to a family member as a gift for Christmas. After taking the unit out of it's box and placing the batteries in it so I could load a custom CCF that I created for him, I realized it had the bright green screen and not the dull washed out aqua blue screen which YOU KNOW I OWN. I then thought to check the other 4 and found the same thing. At that point I posted a thread in this forum about the 5 that I found.

After that I thought to open up a few more cases and check them as well. I started finding more and more.
I then updated my auctions.

Forgive me if I didn't come back in here and update this thread too but I didn't feel it was important.

Lastly, I know you and I think you're a good guy. It's just beyond my understanding why you would want to bash me like that without taking the time to do your homework. I resent you calling me a liar. You know that is one thing I am NOT. You are now starting to act like the competitor whom you complained to me was bashing you and playing dirty. I think highly of you and you are the last person I would have thought to stoop to this level.

Furthermore, Yes I have been checking every one I sell. If a customer request that it not be checked that will be fine by me. In NO WAY does checking the unit render it as used!! I think most people don't mind at all that a merchant take the time to check something for them to ensure that everything is fine and they won't have to lose time sending a unit back and waiting for a new one if something was wrong.

When you go test drive a new car do they then put a used sign on it and sell it as used?? I have sampled two out of every case and I have found enough of the bright green screens to fulfill my Auction obligations.

Again I will restate my offer to get together with you so you can compare with your own two eyes.

You say all Euro Prontos have the "SAME SCREEN" correct?? Let's meet tomorrow??

Lastly, If I am such a liar, how come the very first night I advertised these screens, you went and posted an auction of your own stating:

"The official European-version Silver Pronto.
with BRIGHTER and CRISPIER Screen !!"

?????????

Did you just see mine and decide you were going to lie too?? Not even knowing what you had?? Just lip service huh? Now who is the liar?? I did realize that you removed it on your more recent auctions though.

You know what this tells me?? It tells me that you have NO IDEA what you are selling if you're willing to go put up a claim like that without even knowing what the difference is or what you had.

I close now with an open invitation to get together so I can show you some knowledge that you obviously don't have.

Goodnight and I hope to get an email from you tomorrow so we can get together.

Wael and D:

While this jousting is entertaining, this thread's recent focus was creating a petition to Philips for those of us with inferior screens.

To be remain helpful, I think this thread should return to that purpose.

I think we'd all appreciate it if you took it somewhere else.

Daniel,

Perhaps we need a new Forum, something like 'Reseller Arena', where Dealers and Resellers can bash each other to the delight of all.

Count me in on the petition!

I owned a Marantz RC5000i, and I think the screen is not really constrasting, and need frequent contrast adjustment!!

But I haven't seen a Pronto screen to compare...

Hi folks,

petition is in preparation now (translation ongoing).
I will email the final version to all those who signed.
The final version is planned to be available in german, dutch and english language.

Richard D, this petition will go to Philips, so it won't be of value for a Marantz. However, i will take you into account if you send me your full name (what's 'D' standing for?).
(BTW: same for Bill ?? - don't know your last name).

I guess further names can only be added until end of this week.
I hope i will be ready to send on Monday, Dec.18.
I will use a kind of mail that has to be signed by the recipient on arrival - so we will be sure Philips got it.

Today I phoned the Pronto Helpdesk ( 00 31 534849106)
again to inform about the solution they promised me to find when I called them several times before (starting from september 2000)I spoke with a guy called Vincent. The answer was quiet simple: there will be no solution at all. The reason why is that Philips means that this screen even has a better quality as the old screens. This was also there official reason why they changed screens. Later I spoke with his supervisor Brit Kärt.
She told me the same story and told me that there would be no more discussion about it. I told her that I would publish her name in this forum, so that everybody can phone here for information.

Hi Pronto fellows,

as announced before in this thread, i'v sent a letter (not e-mail) to Philips Amsterdam on January 16, 2001:

- The letter was adressed to
Philips Pronto
Royal Philips Electronics
Rembrandt Tower
Amstelplein 1
1096 HA Amsterdam
The Netherlands

- The letter contained english, german and dutch version (no excuse like 'i could not read it').

- The letter was undersigned by ~20 fellows also participating in this thread.

- Since i've sent this mail via 'receiver's confirmation mode' i have a undersigned confirmation, that the letter was received by Philips on January 23, 2001.

Up to now (2 1/2 weeks), i do not have ANY reply.
If i do not get a reply within next 2-3 weeks, then we all will know that they must be absolutely DEAF when it comes to customer demands...
Let's wait some more time.

Cheers,
Martin

After about a year of constant use, you can count me in on this too, my pronto with the backlight is almost useless until i turn out the lights and now even with the lights out, it's really dim. Kevin
