You're not required to call it a vcr code. You could name it a sat code; however, you'd have to go back to the buttons sheet and see if the buttons are still assigned the way you want, and you may not be able to assign them exactly as you want. You'll have to decide which you can live with more.

Found a way to use the PHANTOM KEY (ph 1-9)
It seems, for what ever reason, that (ph1) does
not work on my setup.
However, this programing works for me:
Using KEY MOVES:
TV ph2 TV TV 0000 $F4 109(aka 365 or 621)
VCR ph3 VCR VCR 0032 " " " " " "
DVD ph4 DVD DVD 0533 " " " " " "

Using MACROS:
Power TV;ph2;VCR;ph3;DVD;ph4 (Turns these devices
off) (All Sony's)

Hope this will help others with the PHANTOM KEY.
Thanks
Jack Relahan

Would I assign the Phantom key in IR.EXE using
"Key Moves"??? Then use Phantom key in a macro???

Yes - You need a keymove for each device you want the macro to work for. Set the keymoves like:
1. TV , ph1, TV dev, devType, setupCode, EFC 109
2. DVD, ph1, DVDdev, devType, setupCode, EFC 109

If you have other Sony devices that have discret off codes, you'll also need to set those keymoves up. Then set your macro up as you described. Good Luck

The only thing I don't like now is the TiVo is
an added device VCR 0636. I loaded the protocol
into KM and re-generated a code for the 2116.

Now the problem is on the remotes LCD it says
VCR and the 0636 which I understand since it displays
the device of VCR. Can I get this to say SAT instead
somehow?

Absolutely, just go back to KM and change the device mode to SAT, then re-load the code. You'll lose the FREEZE button, but gain the INFO button. However, you can fix up whatever buttons are missing from the code with keymoves.

Producer 8's are going for $30-$40 on EBay. You
can also look for 1935's. I don't think the 1925
will fit.

Just curious: is the 1925 puck a different size or does it mount differently?

what's the deal with the INFO key? somebody at UEIC must have overlooked something. I'm probably going to change the replaytv protocol from a VCR to a CABLE so I don't have to use a keymove for INFO.

Rob, I went into KM and did this and the device listed in IR says SAT: 0636 but the remote still says VCR, weird 8o)

Ideas?

Yes I uploaded the new one to the remote :)

Jace,
Just out of curiosity, did you delete the vcr one first (The vcr_0636 upgrade you loaded previously)? Also, did you remember to change the device button name to "sat", then enter 0636 on the general tab. In your case, the sat button will be called "sat" from the drop down menue, and the device code box should read 0636.

Yes I deleted the device first in IR then added the new one. I changed VCR to SAT device type on the setup tab in KM and left the 0636 intact. I *just* changed the device should I have done anything else?

Edmond, I have a normal Sony TiVo.

I think Jim was saying that besides deleting the old upgrade, you should change the device type. This is on the main page of IR where it lists all the device setup codes in your remote. #4 SAT under "device buttons" - you need to click on the device type and change it from VCR to SAT on the scroll menu. Then upload to the remote. Scott

Three places should say Sat_0636.1.The KM Sat_0636 device upgrade. 2. IR General Tab, Sat Button=Sat(from the scroll down menue, and 0636 in the device code box, and 3. Devices Tab, Sat_0636 the upgrade.
If all you did in KM was change the vcr to Sat as device type, you might get a little disappointed; the key maps for the 2 device types are different. So, some of your functions may be missing. The buttons not allowed in Sat that were for vcr, and the keys unavailable for vcr that are now available for Sat. So, after changing the device type, you should go to the buttons tab and see if you need to do some function shifts on the buttons.
If you had any keymoves to or from the vcr_0636 to say, tv for instance, you'll need to redo those keymoves as well, since vcr_0636 doesn't exist anymore.

It worked! It must have been the general tab sat=sat that I forgot to do :)

Thanks for all your help guys!

They moving keys etc.. was easy..Man I also want to thank the writers of IR and KM, great stuff once you learn it...
