I say good for them. I would not have been able to afford an MX-700 if they did not have the courage to stand up to the bullys and do the right thing. I hate price fixing. I am encouraging all my friends who are into home theater to buy some of these.

I've ordered from Worthington before as have several friends and all previous experiences have been excellent. This latest purchase, the MX-700 is just another example of a great price from them.

That much being said - I am POSITIVE that other companies are losing sales due to the pricing of the MX-700 remotes. I know that I would never buy at $499 - even with 30% off it would have been a tough decision to make. At $231 + $6 for the programming cable it's almost a no-brainer.

Bluedo, AVSMart and others have got to stand up to these manufacturers and offer the consumer better pricing. I know if I had purchased from Bluedo at $499 and then found out about the Worthington price it would have been my last Bluedo purchase (and I would have told 10 of my friends to stay away from them too).

And for the record - I really don't care about the MX-200 - I have zero use for it.

Maybe a stupid question: Do you need the $6 cable for connecting the remote to the computer and thus be able to use the software?

Yes. You need the cable. You can't teach anything to the remote without the cable. You teach codes directly into the software through the remote.

Am I missing something??? I just went to Worthington and they aren't listing the 700 at all. Only the 500 and the 1000. Appears they pulled it already.

Mandan,

They didn't "pull" it. In fact when I ordered the remote it wasn't listed on the webpage either. It's in their 2003 catalog on page 92 I think.

Just call and ask for URCMX700 for $231. Ask for the programming cable to be added also.

It still doesn't explain Bluedo's pricing for this item. Even if they got the MX-700 from Worthington at $231 a unit, and the coupon is applied, it's still $118.97 profit per unit - that's 51% profit. That's quite extreme in my book.

to any business there is more then just the price of the materials of what you are buying, there is transport, there is warehouse fees, people to pay.....

I don't know how much they make profit, but saying that they buy the remote for price X and everything else is just profit is not right
...

Ordered mine this morning and they said they are on backorder, and should have in a couple days. The cable is $9.95, and the software has to be emailed.
Has anyone that ordered from Worthington received their's yet?

If they're on backorder, I think you can forget about getting one because HTM is likely to shut them off.

Also, these remotes are only available
in 3 packs, so Worthington is breaking the packages
up and selling them without the Sidekick or the
serial cable that HTM supplies.

You're correct that no cable is included, but my invoice clearly states that it is a 2-remote package. We'll see in a couple of days.

Just got both my remotes from Worthington today. I ordered them the night the info was posted here. As expected I got the MX700 and sidekick. Using a cable I build from parts here I already have both MX700's up and clicking.

Now I hope Worthington will keep the price. I plan to order a few more units to program and give away for holiday presents. I think the parents and in-laws will enjoy a "custom single remote".

Actually I need to clarify my previous post.

I ordered 2 MX700's and received 2 MX700's and 2 Sidekicks.

OK -- Time for a new theory!! HTM is trying to kill off the MX-500 clone product!!!. Let Worthington sell the 700 for the cost of a 500 plus the clone programmer -- no more competition!! Maybe foolish -- but I'll bet a lot of those calls to Worthington are from those of us who WERE interested in programming the 500.. If the cost is the same, there really isn't any choice, is there?.
