1) URC does not condone Worthington selling the MX-700 to end users at what appears to be the wholesale price.

2) Therefore, it is clear that they are not using Worthington to discourage Mike and David's IRCLONE-MX - of which they are fully aware - and as far as I know, they feel it will help somewhat with the sales of the MX-500 (althought the MX-500 is selling wonderfully without it..... but everything helps.)

3) Yes, I believe Mike and Dave may have lost out on a few sales due to Worthington's practices.

4) IMHO, you won't see Worthington selling MX-700's for that price for too much longer.

Disregard this. I posted the wrong message in this space.

Craig, no offense, but if your theory is right then that the people at HTM must be real dumb. They don't loose anything with the clone sw/hw, you still need to buy one of their remotes. And if they did that because they would rather you buy a 700 over a 500, then why not just allow the 700 at 250 and they forced the rest of the vendors to go back at 500.

If anything the loop hole is there to make the 700 more competitive with other remotes like the Pronto. This way anyone that does not do their homework pays 500 for it and anyone that does has a price that matches the Pronto so it comes down to do you prefer buttons over touch screens

Tony -- On offense taken. It was just a theory, probably wrong - but them I often am wrong. Unlike the folks at HTM who make some really "interesting" marketing decisions! :-)

I just got my remotes from Worthington. My package included the MX-700, the MX-200, 6 duracell AAAs, The MX-700 "Guide to Simple Home Theater Operation" quick reference guide, and a bunch of passes to the Electronic House Expo in Long Beach, CA, next month.

And they threw in a Pronto cable at no cost.

$239.50 total including FedEx shipping to California.

I would like some help if possible. I called Worthington and I can order it for 231.07. They require a company name. Should I just make up a name?

Also I have a Sony 90ESG receiver. Pronto will not work with it. Does anyone know if this will?

Thanks for the help and info

They are now quoting 2-3 weeks because of the"run" on the product.

All MX's have trouble with the soundfields of Sony products. I have the MX-700 and MX-500.

Do a search to get more data.

You can make up a name if you want, but don't be surprised if URC doesn't honor your warranty. Worthington should not be selling to anyone who does not have a valid custom installation business.

Just a warning.

Hope it's not actually a Pronto cable. That doesn't work with the MX-700 (wrong pinout).

Nope, but there's information on this issue in the FEATURES section of this site.

Just for drill, I filed a complaint on the whole MX-700 pricing/Worthington's situation via e-mail with John David, ceo URC.

I don't expect a pely, or a change in policy. I feel better though! ;)
