Hello,

I have need of the Marantz remote codes for discrete HDMI output switching on the SR8001, from the following thread:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

I am not sure how to get them to the MX-500. I have an OFA 8810w and JP1/parallel cable (but no computer with a parallel port anymore), and the MX-500 I am trying to teach. Is there a USB cable that will work with this remote, if it is possible to use this remote to learn these codes? Can it be done with advanced codes only (i.e., without the JP1 interface)? Should I "upgrade" my OFA remote?

It has been a long time since I programmed the 8810w and I have no idea what software to use to do this. I would get a USB cable and/or a different JP1 remote if necessary. Thanks for any help or pointers.

If you have a working JP1 cable, the RC5x codes could be uploaded into the 8810.  However, a fairly cheap solution for this particular issue would be to buy a RCA RCRP05B  (Best Buy, Walgreen, Online <$20) and use setup code Audio 1289.  (The 8810 doesn't have Audio 1289-- it's too old)

Then manually program the fiollowing EFCs:
HDMI Out toggle   62006
HDMI Out 1 61990
HDMI Out 1 61974.

Use the 994 command to program the EFCs.

This thread says that the earliest SR8001s needed a firmware update to respond to these signals.

Thanks! I had not found that thread in my searching. My serial number predates the one given, but I do have the h.52 firmware as quoted in this thread (I believe the reseller upgraded their older stock before shipping), so I think it will be worth a try.

Can you recommend a USB JP1 cable to go with it for future use? I got a little mixed up with all the "new" JP1 standards (1.3, etc.).

Will report back on the outcome. Really need to knock the dust off when it comes to remote programming. :)

The RCRP05B is a JP1.3 remote.  Until recently Tommy Tyler has supplied excellent interface cables, but he feels he needs to retire from making them.  There are other vendors, but I recommend that you undertake the light assembly needed to attach a 6 pin header to a FTDI TTL-232R USB interface.

Tommy has published detailed instructions.  $25 or so.

Success! Found one at BB for $18 and got it set up with the EFCs you posted. Thanks for the help and for the USB link. Did you have the Marantz device code and EFCs handy, or did you generate them from the hex with some program (in case I need to do this again for a different code/device)?

I used the Marantz spreadsheet, which lists codes both as device.subdevice/function number as well as Pronto Hex.

I then used RemoteMaster to generate the EFCs, with the RC5/RC5x Combo protocol executor.
