Hi there - my names is Chris, from New Zealand.

I am currently programming several remotes to operate Sharp LCD TV's.

I am using a HP Ipaq with embedded Nevo software, a Sherwood RNC-350 learning remote (for a Sherwood R865) and a Sherwood RNC-500 which I suspect is actually a MX500 rebadged for Sherwood.

I need to obtain or convert the codes already brilliantly supplied in this thread to be able to be learnt into my Ipaq, and then subsequently into the other two devices.

Can someone help with this please?

Hello tgrugett,

Sorry, that it took so long for this reply.
The remote I use is a Pronto RU960.
Below I have the learned ON/OFF code of my original remote
of the Sharp LC-37XD1E.

0000 006C 0000 0020 000A 0047 000A 001F 000A 001F 000A
001F 000A 001F 000A 001F 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001F
000A 0047 000A 001F 000A 001F 000A 001F 000A 0047 000A
001F 000A 06D2 000A 0047 000A 001F 000A 001F 000A 001F
000A 001F 000A 0047 000A 001F 000A 001F 000A 0047 000A
001F 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001F 000A 0047
000A 06D2

Additional info:
The discrete OFF code with label 17/75 does work, but
the discrete ON code with label 17/74 does NOT work.

All input codes are taken from previous threats and do
work properly.

regards,

Gerard

Your power code is standard for sharp... device 1, function 22

I am not sure why you discrete on does not work.

See if there is an energy savings setting or a setting called "quick on" or something like that. I know that I have had to disable energy star settingas before I could get RS232 to work for some sets... unlikely but hey, its worth a look.

Hello Tgrugett,

Thanks for your reply. I will check the energy saving option this evening (although I am not aware that such a function exists)

Addition info to the Power On problem:
Currently the power on code works as toggle button instead of discrete ON. I do not know if this makes a change to you.

If that is the case, I am not sure what to tell you except that you can create a discrete on macro by first issuing the power off command and then the power toggle command.

Hello tgrugett,

I check the energy saving setting. This does not exist.
I know that I could solve it by combining the Power Off with the toggle. But I prefere to find a discrete Power On, because the sequence of commands in the macro are resulting in a longer time to execute the whole sequence. Especially in combination with other devices that need time to start-up / shutdown.

But nevertheless thanks for you reply.

These are from my list in the first post.

I imagine that you only tried the first one you saw.

Hi tgrugett, I did actually try all three......

1/52/Input 3-Teletext.......

Shows Teletext.

1/55/Input 3-TBF.......

A single flash of the "IR received" light on the TV, but no other discernable action.

17/239/Input 3.......

A single flash of the "IR received" light on the TV, but no other discernable action.

Perhaps there is no discrete code for Input 3 on this particular model - but that would seem very out of character for Sharp!

Other thoughts welcome! Thanks, Nick.

I have tested and confirmed the input 3 commands with sucess.

What remote did you say you are using?

Try learning the command you are issuing (all three actually) and post it here. I can look and see if there is any issue with the code issue itself.

I am using a Pronto RU980, so I am just copy/pasting the strings from here into the Pronto.

and post it here. I can look and see if there is any issue
with the code issue itself.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by learning the commands, given that I am just copy/pasting them in. However, perhaps this will give a clue to where I am going wrong (although I think I'm just going to end up repeating your codes back to you!).

The TV powers up with Input 1 selected so, for consistency, I am going back to input 1 before each test.....

Sending this code, successfully switches to Input 2:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0680 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0680

Then, this one switches back to Input 1:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0680 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0680

Then, this one switches to Input 4:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0680 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0047 000A 0680

Back to input 1 again (see code above), then try this one for Input 3:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0679

This gives an on-screen message saying "no teletext available". Back to Input 1 again, then try this one:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0679

Just a flash of the red light on the TV and nothing else. Back to Input 1 again, then this one:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0679

Again, nothing other than a flash of the red light.

Thanks again for your help - and all clues welcome!

Hi Tgrugett,

I've been reading over your posts relating to Sharp TVs with interest as I'd like to find discrete codes for my 32GD7E here in the UK. I've tried all the discrete power codes and all the discrete input selection codes and none work (other than the PC code which is on the original remote in any case). I really don't know much about these codes but I did notice that when I cut and paste the codes from you original post into Prontoedit NG (version 2.1.8.0) the code is changed after saving! For example, the discrete power on code as copied from your post is:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0679

After pasting into Prontoedit I click OK and then immediately re-open the IR code; it has been changed to this:

0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0680 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0680

Are these two sequences actually eqiuvalent or is Pronoedit changing it in a way that could explain why the codes don't work for me?

Yes.

I don't know why the codes don't work for you, but I do know it is NOT because of the insignificant change that ProntoEdit made during the translations from Pronto Hex to internal (NG) format and back to Pronto Hex again.

I can send you my .ccf files for all of the potential codes within the specific code families used by Sharp TVs. You can cross reference them against the list I posted to begin this thread and then begin trying all of the undocumented codes to see if you get anything to respond. Let me know if you want to give it a shot....

Hello,

Reading this thread, I still miss the Input 8 option for the latest Sharp Aquos generation (e.g. LC-52 X20E). The input 8 is a component input. I have tried the component codes posted here, but they do not work.

Any ideas to get around this?

Greetings and good start to the new year.

Hello,

I have been successfull deriving the code needed for input-8/Component on my Sharp Aquos LC-52X20E. How:

Take Makehex (here in the file service) and geneerate for Sharp the complete codebase for Fuction 17. (all 255). Use IR-Panel (can like Makehex be found in the files section) to create a .CCF to be downloaded in your pronto.

Now in order not to go through all of them I tested some of those functions named above - and --- they worked. Next step was to try out a possible code. I tried something that appeared logic.

Finally after only several qualified guestimates it is:

17/151-input-8 (component)

0000 006d 0000 0020 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 0679 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0679

Thanks to this forum for the tools and the ideas in it. Originally I hoped that someone "out there" had the answer easily for me, aparently not, so I had to go through it the hard way.

Have fun!

I edited the first post to include the recently discovered input 8 command by Rudyard.

Thanks!

Please post any new findings and I will track them.
