Sleep study?

If they would pay me to watch me sleep, I'd volunteer.

Money for nothing. :-)

Sleep apnea is the silent killer....been using a CPAP for years and now I cant sleep without it....broke my mask at CEDIA this year and was truly miserable until I could get one overnighted in....I will never not have a spare on hand again.

Then you go back to figure out settings. They already know you need it but why not get a few visits out of you.

A couple of years ago i started falling asleep at the wheel while driving anywhere further than 40 minutes away. I would fall asleep at my desk etc. This isn't normal for me. I usually woke up between 6-7 every day and stayed up till 1 or 2 in the morning. I did the sleep study and was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. Doctor said it was the worst case he had ever seen.

When i started using the CPAP i started to dream again. Seriously it had been years where i didn't dream. Energy level obviously spiked. I can go the whole day again without nodding off or needing to nap.

Using a CPAP was/is difficult for me. A couple things that make it easier are...

1.I use cold distilled water vs room temperature. I dont know why but its easier for me to breathe with cold water.

2.Set the humidity low. Again i think this has to do with temperature and breathing.

3.Use this face mask. [Link: thecpapshop.com]

I did everything at home. just had to see the doc for them to look at the printout.
I think the nosepillow mac pictured is the same mask I use.... Philips Dreamweaver.

I use the Philips Remstar Auto-pap. Would definitely recommend.

I tried that one first, but my sinuses are so bad I couldn’t keep my mouth shut. And it made me feel like I was smothering. I did better with the darth Vader mask.

Snoring badly. Wake up choking, tired throughout the day. Much better when I use fluticasone mist religiously as my nose does not feel open when I’m not on it.

I snore very loudly and stop breathing in my sleep. And when I start back I gasp and sputter. They said I had over 50 episodes an hour. So imagine someone firing up a chainsaw for about a minute, then shutting it off for about 10 seconds, then firing it back up. Our house is 68' long with our bedroom on one end and the other bedrooms at the other end. Ive had guests stay that could hear me at night with both bedroom doors shut. Thats what my wife lives with every night.

The part I notice is Im tired all the time. But I had one client tell me when he had his test done they told him he had some heart damage because of it.

Now that’s scary in itself. Could raising the head of the bed help anyone? I know there’s a lot to it. But I know that is something that I need to do to mine. It just feels like the head of my bed is lower than the feet. I know the frame is leveled from to to end. Either I need to rotate the mattress and/box spring. Or even raise the head slightly.

Raising the head of the bed helps with reflux but not apnea.

Never would have guesses a thread on this would have gotten so much response. Had no idea so many had these types of issues.

We need to look to our government to fix this! (joke!)
