North America isn't any less sexually disfunctional. Just different and in a way that we are so used to hearing about that it's "normal".

We don’t stone rape victims to their death. I’m pretty sure that makes us less disfucntional.

Nope that's pretty high up the list of the worst things you could ever do to anyone, but we have priests that rape young boys and child porn/prostitution. No worse, but certainly not any better.

I’ve said it before, no guy that gets his dick sucked is blowing himself up to try to hookup with a virgin.

I just shot my drink out all over the place when I read this. Cara is pissed, dog seems to be happy 🤣

Wife used to go around the house singing "skeet skeet skeet" around her mom. Her face turned white when I told her what that meant.

HA! I had to also explain it to Cara once too. Poor incident gal(s)

One major difference though. While we have those things, we as a society don’t find them acceptable. Societies that do stone rape victims do find that acceptable, as they find many other forms of sexual repression to be acceptable.

While individual things found in diffferent societies are no worse than others, the way those societies deal with those things define which can be less disfunctunal than the other.

That is a very good point.

Tell her I am sorry, and we all owe her a debt of gratitude. Before her, each year we worried a bit more about you wrapping some M80’s around your butt and lighting the fuse in the middle of Cedia 😆

O My God... who the hell is Celia?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

They did a segment on the local news tonight about a local feminist group telling parents to not like their daughters sit on Santas Lap as it will cause consent issues when they get older.

THIS IS HOW CRAZY ITS GETTING.

hence the thread, How can we protect our selves in a predominantly male industry from having someone make false accusations?

As fins said, flirting happens, Jokes happen etc. I can count on quite a few fingers how many times a bored housewife has made a comment that if you didnt have a sense of humor would be taken as a "sexual advance" Being professional you laugh it off and go back to your Job.

But in those scenarios a bored house wife provokes man, flirting, touching and then the nasty ensues with full consent from the wife. Husband comes home, she tells him and then the lawyers and the cops come knocking. Just throwing this out there.

thats way less likely though....Im more concerned with the "he shook my hand in a sexual way" when he came to give an estimate.

Yo- stop watching the news, that crap will rot your brain.

There is a local show (in French) that is a cross between a cooking show and a talk show The host has several guests around an island in his (?) kitchen with one of the guests cooking his dish while the rest are having a conversation. In this one episode one of the guest was an attractive woman that was from Brazil and she said something like "It was a good thing I had a boy friend before moving here or else I could never get one, all the guys here are way too timid" so then one of the other female guests (can't remember if she said where she was originally from)chimes in with something like "when I moved here I almost felt harassed by the guys".

Unfortunately in this day and age society is too screwed up for things to be well defined. And when you add time to the equation it gets even worst.

The two most important things to understand, imho, that I don't see mentioned here are the line between professional and social situations and the different between power and peer.

Some the behavior in the news is inappropriate in any situation, but rises to the level of formal complaints/charges/losing a job, etc. because it is done is a professional situation. If you are at work, keep the conversation PG and you won't have any problems. It's very simple. Don't try to get laid at work. The same behavior Saturday night at your local watering hole/nightclub/bar is very different in the conference room on Monday morning.

Especially don't try to get laid at work if it is someone you have power over (directly or indirectly). That will never end well. Just not worth it. It doesn't matter whether you are making it a condition of employment/promotion/raise/whatever, it isn't fair to put someone in a situation that could be interpreted that way even subliminally.

Burkas have been mentioned. The reason for the burka culturally is the belief that men can't control themselves around a beautiful woman (or any woman not covered head to toe), so unless she covers herself completely, whatever happens is her fault. All the comments about how women dress, that she's "asking for it, etc" is rooted in that same belief, which I personally believe is BS. Men have self control. Some choose not to exercise it. Women should be free to dress however makes them feel good/beautiful/professional/whatever, and men need to learn to coexist respectfully and behave appropriately; just like you need to control yourself walking into a store and not just taking whatever you want, entering a candy store and eating everything on the shelf, not strangling that other contractor that f-ed up your job, etc. Self-discipline and impulse control is just part of growing up. Unfortunately some never did and need to learn those skills vs the rest of the world accommodating them.

The policy referenced in the OP is just the corporate version of a burka; accepting that men can control themselves, so the women need to change to accommodate that. It's sad.

I'm sorry but your comments about women should be able to dress however they want with no ramifications, is a double standard. That means I should be able to dress however I want? I can go around with my junk hanging out? If I did that, I would have to suffer some sort of consequence (probably get arrested). Of course it's not okay and it wasn't okay 50 years ago for women to dress in public the way they do today. OK, so we have progressed, or evolved, or regressed (depending on your point of view) as a society. Personally I have no problem with the tight Lycra pants. I hope they never go out of style. But if I get the stink eye for looking, well f@ck 'em

I agree that people should not leverage their position of power for sexual gain. They also should not leverage their position of power for financial gain but it is done all the time, every day.

You claimed that when that leverage is exercised it isn't "fair" Well, life isn't fair. Not for us or many others in the animal world.

I don’t think anyone has said that if a woman is attacked or even harassed it’s their fault. What was said was that freedom doesn’t trump responsibility for ones actions. While it’s not my fault if I get robbed, it’s smart to do things to avoid situations where the odds of being robbed are heightened.

Another example, I’ve been involved with scouting for a few years now. The very first training I had to complete before I could do anything was youth protection. It was 30 minutes of telling you, don’t take photos or video in private areas like bathrooms and showers, and most importantly, never put yourself in a 1 on 1 position with a kid. Make sure there is always at least another person around. Is that because people can’t resist touching kids? No. In fact most I would say have zero desire to even do so. But keeping everything a minimum of 3 people prevents ever having a problem of someone even making a false accusation.

So all these young ladies that wear these lycra, form fitting yoga pants (pants being a very liberal term), that leave nothing to the imagination. Why do they wear them, if not to show off their ass in public and have men stare? I mean... really?

I would bet that most of them wear them because they look good and our society has never been serious about speaking about men's sexuality.

By serious I mean discussing what actually turns on a man, and what instead of turning him on will make his neck track a pleasantly rounded shape like a missile on bin Laden.

I was listening to a couple of guys on the radio talking about how we men are, and the woman newscaster who was on with them was AMAZED and had never heard of nor imagined what goes through men's imaginations or subconsciousnesses.

I hope they never go out of fashion, but it is difficult to not stare. Yet if caught staring I get the stink eye.

It is a double standard for sure. If women don't want advances (I don't mean actual unwanted touching), then wear friggin' saggy clothing and flannel shirts.

Again, understanding what makes men stare would help all of us A LOT.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
