I'm pissed. I really wanted to see The Interview. Now I guess I'll have to spend all Christmas Day with my family. I don't mean my wife and kids. I mean my whole family on my mom's side. That's terrorism right there

That's funny!

I just can't believe that they actually BELIEVED the threats were real. Come on Sony, get a life!

If they had ignored it, and something happened, even just some completely unconnected psycho boy going mental, they'd have been completely ripped apart.

There's nothing that will ever stop a psycho.

The problem with the precedent Sony has set is where does it stop?? If I don't like a new movie that's coming out all I have to do is threaten violence and the movie is scrapped? I don't like how Walmart treats it's employees so I threaten violence so Walmart closes stores? CBS has a documentary on a supposed rapist so all I do is threaten violence and the documentary gets cancelled?

The issue is Sony and the Theaters had to believe that there was a hacker group that felt sympathetic to North Korea! Are you f&*king kidding me? I know a few hackers and NONE of them feel their government should oppress their people, force them into labor camps, torture them for their beliefs. If anything they oppose all government regulations. If anybody believed the hack wasn't from the North Korean's, sorry, you're an idiot.

Sony and the theaters caved, this is not going to get better, it's only going to get worse. You've just told the world of psycho's, threaten violence and you win.

*In no way do I feel the events of 9/11 were nothing short of the worst act of violence and cowardice perpetrated by a complete group of psycho pieces of shit. If every member of al-Qaeda was burned alive tomorrow, I'd could live with that.*

The precedent Sony has set may actually be worse than 9/11 from a freedom point of view. When the 9/11 attacks happened it unified us and made us stronger. When the attacks in Boston happened, we said f&*k you and defied them. Now a Nation doesn't like a film coming out and we cave like a bunch of complete pussies.

Sony should just say the movie was hacked and let it mysteriously show up online.

Looking forward to the movie? I think it looked like one of the most juvenile movies ever produced. Anybody looking forward to "The Interview" must have seen and loved all the "JackAss" movies.

Sony is weighing the risk, against the reward. If anything were to happen, they'd be sued. My understanding is that theaters were already talking about not showing it. So, by Sony making this decision, their insurance company will likely have to pay out, probably resulting in more revenue than if they were to show it at the theaters that would still do so.

The people proclaiming about the precedent this sets, are people who's money isn't on the line. Sony is a business, this is a business decision.

For too long our government has been hands off on how the internet is handled. It has become a utility, and likely one of the most important utilities. Yet our government has stuck their head in the sand, and refuses to tackle the tough issues, and continues to kick the can. In my opinion, this is our governments fault, far more than Sony's. Blame Obama and Bush. They both should have done something in this area, and they both have fallen short. Our government appears to have to wait until we're on the brink of destruction to decide we have a problem. What's broken, is our leaders in this country!

I know! It looked awesome. Finally a comedy that's actually funny again, and it got canned. (Go see a proctologist about that stick)

Sorry, my idea of humor doesn't revolve around how many times somebody gets hit in the nuts. I'm not 13 any more. Some day you'll hit puberty!

Expect a zillion copycat capers.

Hopefully, after only a few hundred more hacker events of this scale, people will get serious about security. At this point the bean counters are crying "too expensive" and users are crying "too hard" to do what needs to be done. At a few hundred million dollars (or more) per "event", the bean counters will eventually get an idea that they could save some money (and probably get a bonus) for authorizing spend for security.

Fundamentally, we need a new platform. Currently, we are trying to make a sieve watertight.

Unfortunately you sound like a 90 year old who's only funny joke is the fly in my soup.

Please enlighten us as to what "real" comedy is. This should be good!

this has happened before.

The Catholic church ruined any chance of them making the sequels to the Golden Compass.  I read the books and was looking forward to seeing the rest of the films, even though the first one wasn't that great.

The problem as I see it to this type of reaction is it may be that ultimately the "bad quys" no longer have to actually DO anything - just threaten it.

Pretty soon the rest of the world is forever reacting to threats and then we are we?

+1

The premise of this movie was really a stupid idea. The N Korean boy-man psycho
is thin skinned---but, it was a stupid idea to come up with a movie threatening to kill him.

Even though he is a major ass-hat, it was not a smart idea to do a movie like that... nor do I see much humor in it, now that being said... I enjoyed Team America and Borat.

Someone getting hit in the nuts is always funny. Fart jokes and farting is always funny. Bodily fluids is always funny. And a hot girl using cum for hair gel is always hysterical. Lighten up. As Patrice O'Neal once said, "some rape jokes are funny"
