Perhaps Cedia should
heed to the needs of the attendees and have a
qualified city to host the show rather than trying
to help the "local" economy. There. I've vented
some.

Couldn't agree more. This will be the first time I've attended since New Orleans for that very reason. I detest spending 3+ days & nights in an uninteresting town.

I second that bid for NYC - We'll all have a much better time!

While that would certainly be convenient for me & you, who could go home to sleep, I can't imagine it for anyone flying in. The only reasonable hotels are across the river in not-so-good areas. Attendees would have to spend a stupid amount of money & time just getting around, to say nothing of after-hours recreation.

I'd vote for Atlantic City first. Then New Orleans again. Then SF & Vegas.

My vote is for Vegas....

Of course this will NEVER happen, it makes way too much sense.

Great airfares, convenient flights, great hotels, great hotel rates, great restaurants, great nightlife.

And we go to Indianapolis for another wonderful time in a city that rolls up the streets.....!

I guess its all attitude...

I spend the whole year taking one or two three day weekends... haven't had a real vacation since spending a month in Europe in 98'. I work a lot and take care of kids so its nice to go anywhere to let a little steam off. We need to organize a few meet and greets. I know everyone will have a busy schedule but its been fun meeeting some of you over the last few years.

The attitude comes from the fact that you can make the party happen just by being there. Last year on Friday night I went to the Monster party, The Slippery Noodle, about ten vendor functions, watched Sensio's 3d Porn, hit the boobie bar, scarfed about ten White Castles and hit my Saturday 6 AM flight back home to be in a wedding the next day.

I'm not saying that Vegas wouldn't be fun though!

AV Dude said that CEDIA was going to Denver from 2007-2009...

Actually, I just got back from Indy on a business trip, and although the town generally sucks, Howl at the Moon was fairly entertaining.. It's downtown about a block from the Omni hotel (which also sucks!)

I should have thought it obvious, the most exciting event at CEDIA will be......QQQ!

And having spent a fair amount of my formative years at various motels in the LIC area ( Queens to those of view unfamiliar with NYC geography ) there are more than a few places I could suggest for one to stay; although I might be inclined to bring a sleeping bag were I to spend more than 5 minutes in any one.

NYC will never host CEDIA as union labor makes it too expensive to bring a convention here. Hotels are the least of the problems as rooms in beautiful downtown Indianapolis are about as over-priced as any in the world. I stayed at a palace last year with a view of the city lock-up. Cost? $90/day. Subways and buses make staying in the outer bouroughs in NY more viable than most other areas. You could stay at a Kennedy Airport hotel and still make it to Manhattan in less than an hour by subway and train-to-plain. And there would be much better, far less expensive food available and a few more bars to spend off hours in NYC. That said I liked it when they had CEDIA at Minneapolis, MN. But the CEDIA head quarters is in........Indianapolis. Suspect there might be a built in bias by the staff?

I attended a CEDIA EXPO in Atlanta one year. We had a great time. I wouldn't mind if we went back there.

Wrong RHM...

It's EITHER 2005-2008 or 2006-2009

Either way...I'll be contacting them to help in any way I can, to insure that I do all I can to show all my fellow integrators a great time on a GRAND scale!

Did you know you can see the BRONCO in the north stands of Invesco Field at Mile High from space?

huh? did ya?

Hopefully soon... the sooner the better... just because I'm a greedy bastard who likes the one flight idea.

You heard it folks... no need for a hotel in Denver... we'll all crash at AV Dudes place!

San Francisco is also very expensive. NYC is outrageous for hotels, meeting areas, and recreation. Chicago has a union problem, making it difficult and expensive for exibitors (that's why CES is no longer there). LA is moderately priced, but the areas that have affordable convention centers are boring (Aneheim). The best bets are Vegas or San Diego. San Diego is a little more expensive than Vegas, but has a wide variety of entertainment options, both daytime and evening. SD also has alot of hot looking girls-- and unlike Vegas, they usually don't charge for an evening of their time.

Okay, I admit it, I live in San Diego. I was just hoping to save some air fare and travel time. Seriously, though, it is a pretty good convention town.

What am I looking for at Cedia? A good programmable hard-button remote control that is well priced ($150), versatile, and reliable with an intuitive button layout. A Pronto isn't for everyone.

I'll go ahead and throw my vote in for Houston. There is plenty of good inexpensive hotels, lots of entertainment, some of the best convention centers, and even more entertainment in the Metro areas like Kemah, etc..

plus I could actually have time to go if it was here.

I would like to see it back in Dallas. I was there in '95. Great food and places to visit.
I never had a problem in the airport there. I certainly wouldn't mind going to Denver. I have never been there and I have always wanted to visit.
Chicago would be fun, but not for the vendors and the constant traffic nightmare near the McCormick center.
Vegas would be fun too, but bit distracting in my opinion.
"Great airfares, convenient flights, great hotels, great hotel rates, great restaurants, great nightlife." TSS, I agree with you on all points except great hotel rates. As soon as the hotels get info that a convention is in town, we all get F@&*ed in the wallet.
I am referencing the builders convention and CES, as compared to a typical week/weekend. The cab rates are a bit high as well.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
