gdnuff and GotGame,

I like them both and will comment further when I have time.

Jeff,

Why would Cedia allow Bose to continue to stay members considering the petty nature of the lawsuit? That just doesnt make sense to me. Is it to try and stay above the 'stench' of Bose or is it just about money? Even though Bose is in a lawsuit with Cedia they still have to pay dues, right? Seems even more silly now, Bose pays dues to an organization that they have filed a lawsuit againist and a portion of their own dues go towards fighting the lawsuit. You just have to love this industry.

Sorry Jeff....I know Ray is the current President and should have said your official title. What I was pointing out is that you were surely someone in the know. Funny thing is that the very next post from Dawn said the same statement.

So, is it in Denver in 2005 or not? .....just kidding!

Yes they still have to and do pay dues. We felt that since we live in America and we all have the right to free speech booting Bose from our membership just because they “disagree” with us would simply be wrong. Even though they disagree with us in a very unpleasent, expensive fashion they do have the legal right to do so. Yes we choose to represent you, our members, in a fashion that demonstrates fairplay and class. That’s how we want CEDIA to be viewed by everyone including Bose.

Bose’s member revenues are completely insignificant and have nothing to do with this choice.

Jeff,

I am glad that Cedia is 'the better man', so to speak. I didnt think about it when I was typing and I shouldnt have made the insinuation that Cedia would keep a member just for the money. Cedia is above that kind of behavior. We all know that. I am glad to know that the First Amendment is held dear to the hearts of the the Cedia chair person's, too bad Bose doesnt believe in the same rights.

Pity the poor smucks who got the task of manning the Bose booth....

I'm wondering though. Did Bose have a booth in the past?

Really.....I've never dealt in their substandard products, so I never bothered to look.

That'd be sort of like looking for a Yugo dealership amid all the luxury car dealerships......lol

As a matter of fact, was there ever a Yugo dealership, or were they just sold on the street corners by fly by night vendors.....?

Of course, say what you will about Bose (and we do!) Dr. Amar is laughing all the way to the bank. So who among us can really argue?

Bottom line: It's not the quality of the product that really matters, it's the perception of quality that really counts. That perception is the result of excellent marketing.

So for all who a struggling a bit, spend some time thinking about how you will market your products and services, and raise your prices to not only cover your marketing costs, but also put a little extra cash in that wallet. People pay for perceived quality. Why else would someone pay twice as much for a Lexus, when it is just a Toyota with a little makeup?
