Funny, i look on this website all the time but i really never reply. I have been installing custom a/v equiptment for a living the past 10 years so i pretty much have the answer to everybodys question on this web site. So today i try to reply and this website wants me to register.Once i do they give me an 8 digit case sensitive password that as you type it you can't see, it took me 1/2 hour to finally get here. and for what, just to be nice and help somebody else out.In my line of work i don't have time for all this bull, you might want to consider this next time you decide to make changes that you think are for everybodys good.

I bet that your installs are really complicated. IF you need help programming your Russound impedance matching volume controls, CALL ADI tech support.

NDBEER,

Sounds to me like you need a Prozac (or a good swift kick in the a**). If you're having that much trouble logging on here, I fear for your customers. What in heaven's name do you do when you have a programming problem with their equipment?

As for this website, I doubt that you'll find a more helpful website or nicer people than you will here. CHILL OUT MAN!

I lve it when people are quick to complain. In the end they need to point fingers to themselves. Reminds me a story about misinterpretation...(sp?)

Two farmers are talking about how big their farms are. One farmer says he can get into his truck, drive all day long, and still not reach the end of his farm. The other farmer says "I think you need a new truck!"

Yea so how about that calm down thing, if you don't have time to help others who need help it might be because you are too busy spending 1/2 an hour trying to complain. If you spent a little less time complaining and a bit more time reading you would find out you can change your password to whatever you want it to be. Just a thought though, I could be wrong.

NDBEER: here is one answer you don't know.
you could have just copied the password from your e-mail and pasted it in the password box. Much more simple then having to think about pressing the shift button every few letters :-)

On the other case Registration was not added for convenience, but
1) there were a few people faking to be others (posting under someone else's handle nasty messages)
2) some people were not following the rules and were just coming here to advertise their site, their prieces and their specials. And they were disrupting the forums
3) to give the ability to people to edit their post (even though I am sure this was probably more of a consequence then a cause)
......

I spend very little time on this forum, partly because I have no desire to enter the same password again and again ever single time I post something (yes I know that I can cut and paste it, so what).

I prefer to visit forums that allow me to store a cookie in my profile so that I do not have to log in. If I delete all the cookies on my PC, I have to enter a password the next time I visit the forum. Otherwise, I never have to log in.

Interesting messages. I saved my password when I first joined. I never have to enter it any more. Not for a reply or edit, not even to hit the forum.

I added Remote Central to the links along the I.E. (5.0 for Mac) toolbar, and when I click on it, the forum listing page ([Link: remotecentral.com]) pops right up.

I don't think I even remember my password.

It seems like some of these so-called home theater pro's are idiots. Sorry, I'm just a plugger and have no trouble getting around remotecentral without using my password. -Ken

Yes, that is interesting because I do have the "remember my password" option set to "yes" in my account management options. But in my case, and others, it obviously doesn't work. And I do have cookies enabled.

My guess is that if a user cleans up the cookies on their PC, the system at Remote central cannot recognize them anymore. Even if they enter their password and submit another cookie, the system is still probably looking for the old cookie.

Ken:

So your experience is different than some other users that are expressing their opinions and the only way you can express yourself is to call people idiots?

I changed my password and the system now remembers it. I suspect it is as I surmised above. If you clean out your cookies, the system no longer remembers you, even if you submit a new cookie.

Change your password and it will remember you again.

For what it is worth, most other systems don't require this.

Q,

I think Ken assumes since you are posting in a pro's forum and since many or I dare say almost all don't have password issues he was probably wondering how much you actually could help your clients with tech issues since you seem to have a very basic password issue that non tech people don't have a problem with. I however would not have made a personal attack on you but your post rubbed some people the wrong way.
