Thanks for the clarification on the metadata. From looking at the C4 wand we have in our other showroom it looked to be two lines of text max. You stated a few lines so our system may not be programmed to its fullest. I really dont know.

I have seen the ability to control any C4 product (expected) and plenty of IR based products. We have one system in the field that is C4 and Kscape and the installers/C4 programmers have said this works but is a bit buggy at times. This could be installation/programming related or it could be C4 related, again I do not know. You mention that C4 can literally control anything and I am not questioning that but would like to know how you would go about programming a C4 processor to query a webserver for a file list, load the file list into local memory on the processor, pull the data from the file list into an array from local memory so you can reference the data for further processing? This is a serious question and not some stab at C4 or a chest thumping of Crestron is better than C4. I can, and am currently, doing this with Crestron with ease and have been asked to build the backend for C4 systems to do the same thing. Now, this will only work if the C4 panels will support pulling images from the web and allows for this kind of customization through the (coming?) Flash interface.

Kspace has a two way IP driver for control4.. update the project. what type of file list are you looking to pull? what do you want to do?

you can pull images from the web and display them on any navigator interface. there are limitations it just comes down to what you want to do. also with the flash interface as i mentioned a few pages back there will basically be 2 options. one is a dealer with no flash experience will be able to do small UI modifications the other is you need to know full flash and you can do what ever you want with the UI.

As I understand from speaking with the C4 programmer for that project, they are using the TCP driver.

I want to read the contents of a directory on a webserver. To do this I need to first query via FTP the current directory list. If there is a match file in the returned list then I can move forward, if not I need to change directories and query the server again. This is all plain text information via GET. Being able to structure the command format, send the request, parse the returned data set, compare that data with a specified file name (used as a delimiter) to determine that I have retrieved the correct file list from a directory - if not request a directory change, rinse, repeat - if so then parse the data received, write to an array, process further. What I intend to do with this is really not something I wish to discuss further. Once I have the data it should be easy enough to build a driver that will interface with the UIs in the project. That driver could then be programmed in the wizard (sorry, I dont know the C4 IDE name) as any other device. This is based on the assumption that the C4 IDE allows me to manipulate I/O information in a way that is a 'custom' device in the system. I assume you can add buttons to pages - example: DVD page needs a Record button because its a DVD recorder so you simply add a button to the DVD controls page. I would simply be adding an object to the C4 panel that would need to interface with the data set that I retrieved from the web server.

Hopefully that clears up my questions to at least a murky state.

you are a good for nothing, smart ass, punk. brush up on my installation skills? because i didnt label my wires with labels? you keep running your power cords in the walls, and i will keep writing on the wires in my sctructured cabling panels.

Dude- I didnt say I make a habit of running power cords in walls jackass, I simply stated we have all probably done it a time or two. And as for being a punk, I helped pioneer this industry in Houston as it grew over the past 20 years. Have you ever been asked by one of your local distributors to teach a class for them at CEDIA. That was me 12 years ago at the tender age of 26. So (A) I'm not a punk, and (B) I'm not being a smart ass, my comments are to counteract the sewage spewing from your mouth.

I get the gist from other well respected people on these forums your a "know it all" and also by your comments that you "know your sh@t". people are here to be helpful. But if you open up, be prepared to catch the wrath. Dont come on here parading that your the shit cause you installed a ADAGIO system with one f@cking touchscreen. Unless you've got some other pics to post you should only open your mouth to nurse on you mommys tit. Your a baby. BIIAATCCCHHHH.

I agree with caudio4C4. Using a sharpie on wires is ridiculous. Might as well close up shop and get a job at home depot.

Check out whos photobucket this pic came from :).

I dont think writing on wires with sharpies is a bad thing, never said that. Putting electrical tape on vertically and labeling the electrical tape I think is a no no. Sharpies are your friend at the prewire or retro stage.

i dint say young punk, just punk.

you got the gist from other well respected people on this forum or one person named vinny. i have never had a problem with any one on this forum.

i posted pics of a job at the request of another C4 fanboy and you personally attacked it and said you would be embarrassed to post them. i have never had any dialect on here with you whatsoever until now. and now i have the problem?

how did i parade that i am the shit?

why dont you post pics of your jobs. why in the f#ck do i have to post pics of my jobs on here. what in the hell does this have to do with the original post? i simply said that i being a crestron dealer 100% believe in my product and believe it is the best and cant wait to pick up a line with price points similar to what c4 dealers are coming after me with.

how am i parading that i am the shit?

people are on here to be helpful? well here is your first response directly to me.

I would be ashamed to post those photos of that panel. Nice lableing on the coaxes. How much jacket is supposed to be exposed on cat 5's when punching them down. Not impressed. By the way, I think its pathetic you are "coming" for control4 dealers. Most Creston dealers up to today were too full of themselves to touch the market C4 is targeting. But get a piece of gear you think will compete with C4 and your ready to concor the world. How pathetic.

By the way, take note of how nicely I wrote the labeling on our wires...............oh forgive me we used a real labeler. If your my competition now, I will go ahead and order my new ZR1 now.

now i am the one with the problem? get a grip. i have never attacked someones work on here. you have made several posts on here about people getting along and what not. but you are one of the most agressive people on here. make up your mind. your a pathetic joke.

why can i not tell people that i know my sh$t. i do. i dint say i know everything. of course i learn things every day.

Yeah, its a nice way to terminate a rack that sits infront of an attic door. That way it can be quickly disconnected if the hvac guy needs in there. Thats injinuity for you, not just some run of the mill, ho hum install skills.

this was our first stab into it, i have some other pics I'll try to get posted. we dont even want them in the rack. directly off the multiswitch.

is that an uncovered open back cut in behind the coaxes. is that another standard procedure you use? but god forbid you put white tape on a black wire and label it.

Oh my, is it against code to not have a wall plate on a wall? Personally I dont think there was a need to be labeled. All the wires do the same thing, feed the dvrs in the rack. Lets see some more of your pics. isnt the saying "put up or shut up"?
