Hey all, I have been lurking for a while now. I am a CI in the Baltimore, MD area. Our company does Control 4, RTI as well as many other systems. My current focus is building more powerful and interesting GUI's (with RTI). Im excited to jump in the discussions!

I'm a returning user. I went by IE Keith here a while back when I was working for a custom install company in the Chicago area. The company has since closed its doors.

I work at Allnet Distributing now.

So, hello to any new members out there, and for those of you I may already know, hello again, and I hope all is well!

Hi I’m Mike with MirageVision and been in the TV industries since 2001 with satellite and custom installation prior to working with MirageVision. Once I noticed MirageVision I was won over on the first day and saying this is a great product and decided to move to Las Vegas and help out. Once this happened I quickly understood why this company was different than any other outdoor TV company by not requiring any fans or bulking cabinets to house a TV component. The other difference was in picture quality was far better than any normal TV could ever give out. In some cases here others say is that the new 3D without glasses since the contrast was beyond high. As you see you must like your product to be happy where you work. I’m here to help with any questions and separate the myths from truth.

Hi my names Remel I have worked in AV / Custom AV for a London based company for the last 5 years, and have now started a new company selling custom AV equipment amps controllers etc and would like to ask if there were specific products or lines that you guys find hard to get hold of. To give me a bit of a niche in a packed market.

I am Kurt,

My start was n CI for a company in Milwaukee installing and servicing. From there I moved into the computer world and started my own business 12 years later, 8 years later we find the two industries have merged and I love my job, computer controled home automation and networking system in homes that rival some of my business clients systems. I love seeing the face of my cleints when they ask for there technology to do something and I say sure why cant it, and make it work the way they want it to. I am in business with my wife, and yes its chalanging being together 24/7 but she is the best partner due to each others strengths.

Hello,
I'm Luc

Not a pro installer, but.

I have been in data communications for over 20 years. (Pre-Internet) I have been a Cisco Systems partner for many years. My clients were large corporations with offices throughout the world. I had two offices with 10 engineers including CCIE's. In the course of business I worked with several top structured cable companies. I participated in the design of cable plants and often worked with installers in certifying the installation. Answering service calls necessitated owning data analyzers and Fluke test gear. I sold the business several years back.

While building my home I had a cable contractor run and terminate a bundled Belden product that had 2 x RG6, 2 x CAT6, and 2 x FO. All are terminated in Leviton dirty panels. One MDF and 3 IDF's. I use Cisco Gig switches with POE to support Cisco Voip. I'm all Mac with AirPort Extreme WiFi.

Control gear: I designed and implemented a Lutron Homeworks Interactive system with 3 panels for RPM modules. Speced' all the components, keypad layout (Vario & Seetouch), engraving, and programed the HWI processor. A licensed electrician ran the control and voltage cable and termination to the RMP's I have a Crestron controller with a couple of CT1000 (I think) wall screens.
I hade a PAD-8 controlling audio to in room Paradyne ceiling speakers. Ai also had a Crestron RF touch remote. I farmed out the Crestron programming to Pepper Dash on the east coast. I say had, because Crestron requires a forklift upgrade with any new A/V technologies. IMO, great for professional installers, bad for homeowners. I tossed the Pad-8 and put in RedEye PRO.

I have completed all the RedEye Pro programming, with the exception to the Lutron HWI interface and a 3 x 5 audio matrix switch.

Why am I here? I found ya'll looking for knowledge on running audio over RG6. I found some great stuff. Thanks. I'm also looking for some direction with RedEye RS232 scripts. I found an Impact Acoustics 3 x 5 Matrix switch that switches 3 x 2 ch audio, component video, and toslink to 5 zones.

I understand that this is a forum for professionals and I will respect that.

Hello I'm Juan

I am fairly new to this industry but am learning very quick. I acquired a job with a local company called Gorge Audio Video in March and recently was officially accepted into the Oregon IEC training with my coworkers. One of them roams around on these forums and directed me here. I am looking forward to a lot of learning.

I've been in the industry for about 14 years. I started working part time for a small local company and that turned into a full time job. This company had been doing CI since the early 70's. The things I learned there have been invaluable. We actually "manufactured" our own speakers (including in-wall). The owner would design the speakers and we would build crossovers, baffle plates or enclosures, and wood framed in-wall grills.

That company went out of business about 10 years ago and I (along with another former employee) started a company. We do anything from 6 figure systems (not very many) to simple TV installations. Our control products are Savant, AMX, RTI, and URC.

I have been coming to this site ever since I started programming RC5000 remotes. Over the last few months I've been looking through the forums and I've gained a lot of knowledge and had a lot of laughs. I hope to be able to join-in and contribute.
