Hi I'm tony from Ireland just found this place and so glad I did , I'm an electrician by trade but at the min I'm installing cctv , alarm systems and door entry systems amoung other things have done some small A/V installs for friends also when I was working as an electrician for a couple of firms I was always the one that was left to to the A/V end of things as most people freaked out when they seen the back of an amp or coms cabinet . All being well I hope to do my first speakercraft install in my new home if things go to plan and by the look of it there is a wealth of knowledge on the boards that I hope can guid me through setting it up

Yes, they over heat and the amp cards fail frequently. You could put those things in a fridge and they will still fail... lol

I saw a few fail up in the Rockies at 9k up, probably a little colder than Ireland. I know it was usually colder there than northern Scotland where my cousin lives.

Hello.
I'm Derek Cowburn, Owner of Distinctive Audio Visual Environments, Inc. (DistinctAV) in Fishers, IN since starting it in 2006.

My background is large building automation systems for pharmaceutical facilities including HVAC, security, access, and lighting. Lot's of advanced energy management experience and I have a personal passion for improving the efficiency of buildings and homes.

DistinctAV won the EH Magazine HOTY in 2009 and some other fun stuff. I love what I do and enjoy pushing manufacturers products to their limits.

About 10 years ago I came up with the idea that LEDs would eventually take over lighting with their incredibly high efficiency and this prompted me to start LumenCache last year and produce our first product. http://www.LumenCache.com

Sorry I'm not an active participant on this forum even though I've been a member for a while!

I'd rather not have to maintain two accounts so if everyone can kindly understand that DistinctAV and LumenCache are the same guy then no one else needs to get their feathers ruffled like Ernie Gilman.

I'm looking forward to positive and cooperative feedback on our product as we can build what you guys need and want most.

Hi, I'm Terry and I write drivers for remotes as well as sell and program them for my A/V clients. I've been a low voltage contractor (C-7) in CA for 6 years and came from the industrial automation world of assembly robotics and test equipment design. I did/do electronics design and software but mostly software.
Happy to be here!

I'm Roger at RPS Satellite in Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC Canada.

While installing large c-band satellite dishes for commercial
receive sites, the demand from residential users was still there,
while installing big dishes for home users and sports bars it only
made sense to start selling and installing a/v equipment. Now over
8 years down the road the product line has grown.

I have read many topics on this very forum for some time now,
and I finally became a member. Happy to be here guys, I hope to
help and be helped/learn as much as possible.
Thanks

Hey all, I have been lurking for a while now. I am a CI in the Baltimore, MD area. Our company does Control 4, RTI as well as many other systems. My current focus is building more powerful and interesting GUI's (with RTI). Im excited to jump in the discussions!
