Here is what I have been doing for many, many days. Almost back together.

][IMG][/IMG]

A friend of mine from highschool found one of these that had been totaled. He bought it for $2000 and Spent the summer with hammer and a bucket of body filler and made it look brand new.

Obviously it wasn't the right way to do it but for $4000 and 2 months of elbow grease he was king of the parking lot for the next 3 years.

Was waiting to tell someone on this forum before I posted since he has been my sounding board on this decision but since he's not picking up his phone, f him, I'm posting.

Bought this from a shop down in FL and it was delivered tonight:

Already ordered this to replace what it came with:

Gonna bring the wheel to a local shop that sells MGB shift knobs to try and match the wood.

Btw, I finalized the deal for the car Thursday, shipper picked it up Friday, and even with a blizzard blanketing the east coast, the car was delivered within 2 days.

I ordered the Steering Wheel from a place in England. I ordered that on Thursday, it will be delivered via Fed Ex tomorrow.

I place an order with Sonos, and it takes no less than a week to arrive. Have waited almost two weeks before :-/

Mike,
few things.
1. No airbags
2. Where the kids gonna go?
3. I don't like that yellow color
4. Wanna just get rid of it and ship it my way? :-)

Mario,

1. I look at that as a potential quick way out of this industry
2. Precisely
3. I can definitely live with that
4. Sure, just wait by the door for it, I swear it's on its way.

Have to work on hiding those wires. The car came with a stuck turn signal switch, so will likely get that fixed/replaced first

Mike, just a few observations, your car's front grille is called a "fishmouth" and was only made 2 years. The turn signal lenses on the front are on backwards. If you post pictures on MGExperience, the Stanleys will eat you alive on that. It is the "site" joke. The door cap rails on your car are from a MkI car and are worth taking off and selling to a Mk I owner because good ones are rare for them. The flatter door caps are correct for your car and plentiful at good prices from members of the MGE and Ebay.

DO NOT use generic brake fluid in the brakes or clutch systems. Use Castrol LMA only. The rubber compounds are different in the US versus the UK. And the US fluid will eat the seals. Also the color codes for the wiring harness is different than US. BROWN is HOT. So don't wire in a radio or whatever without getting a Haynes or factory manual with a wiring color code chart.

Wire wheels are pretty but they suck when worn. The hubs and splines will wear if not tightened properly and are expensive to replace. I always changed wires with solid wheels. Even new wires and hubs can make little clunking noises on acceleration and stopping.
If you Paypal me $5 for shipping, I will send you a Haynes workshop manual for free. Private message me for details.

I have owned 20 or more MGBs over the last 45 years and they can be fun and reliable if serviced and maintained properly.

If you click on the url of one of my pictures, it will take you to my photo bucket with pictures of the MGB I owned for 32 years. Sold it in 2012 to Grand Prix Cafe. They have it for sale now at almost what they gave me for it.

My accountant, friend, and my sons godfather (all the same person) is an MG nut, and has (amongst his collection) a fully restored B roadster in red. Several years ago we drove it down to Le Mans (from London) to watch the 24Hrs race. On the way back we detoured to Paris. It was a great five day trip and the car never missed a beat.
What do you mean you wanted it on the other wall - couldn't you have mentioned this when we prewired?

Sounds like a fun trip. The car is a blast to drive. I'd done the fast car, and wanted to go a little different this time.

Thanks for the info, and offer. I actually ordered a Haynes manual yesterday, otherwise I definitely would have taken you up on it. Right now, I have to figure out what is up with the gauges. The oil pressure gauge works, but the tach, speedo, fuel and temp gauges don't work. The temp and fuel gauges is likely related to the voltage stabilizer, but not sure about the tach and speedo. Ordered a few books, including a sort of guide to wiring issues and of course the Haynes manual, so hopefully I can get them going on my own. The cold is my enemy right now as its not fun spending too much time out there.
