I love to go check that place out once in a while. If I win the powerball, I'll buy everyone here a new Ferrari!

My parents bough a house in Woodland Hills California for $140k in 1971, 45 years ago.... and would now sell for north of $1.5mil. Maybe even more. Does that count?

Zillow often goes on property tax appraisal which impacts their "Zillestimate", not actual market value. When you get a little older and realize you don't know everything, report back to us.

I'm not going to deny that Seattle is going to be the next San Francisco....howeverrrrrrrr your once again embellishing and lieing, not that we should be surprised.

Have a friend that must moved out to Seattle since he took a job with Amazon. He's been there for a year and he said the cost of living hasn't really gone up much in the year that he's been there. Rent for his super nice one bedroom just a few blocks away from the city is around 1650 a month, which is right on board with what things are hear in philly. He also said that housing prices aren't much inflated over what they are here. Said he can pick up a very modest 1600 sq.ft house in a nice area for around 300,000 ish, which isn't too far off of what prices are here. He did say though in the next couple years he may be able to make a nice ROI on a place, he's expecting around 350 by 2018, which is an amazing profit in that short of time!

If your friend just got there he hasn't experienced the ride up so he most likely wont see any significant change.

Soooooo, yeah. Just slight embellishment there stanly. You can also check Zillow in neighborhoods and no where is there any home that was 85k and now worth 770k in the last 50 years! :)

Try again bud!

I don't watch the Seattle market but $85k to $770k sounds about right. In Wicker Park my friends parents paid $40k for a house in the early 1990's that they sold for $260k in 1999. The new owners knocked it down and built a new house. The last sale of the property was $1.4 million.

Keep in mind that Wicker Park isn't down town, the gold coast, lincoln park etc. It's further west near the edge of the gentrification ring or it would be even more expensive. Like i said i don't know anything about Seattle but its not unheard of to see property value change so drastically even over a period of a couple of decades.

Foam is not that hard to pull out. Its typically only on exterior walls. Not on ceilings either. Although some have been led to believe its this great sound proofing option and go crazy.

I would imagine in 20+ years its even easier to pull out than now. Besides, who would put thought into how hard it will make for the next remodel when youre old? lol. Really? There is no way i would build a house WITHOUT spray foam. One of the greatest inventions of recent times for sure.

I was watching the guy fill up the attic floor/ceiling joists with it. Seems like the glued down linoleum over hardwood floors of the future. I can picture it now "Ooh...looks like they used spray foam. Looks like we will have to chemically bathe all the studs and pray we don't have to knock it down and start over".

I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

Only $950 million. If no one wins this evening, the jackpot will rollover to 1.3 billion (Said in a Dr. Evil voice!)

$1.3 Billion...is that enough to quit work? :)

Seriously i caught myself earlier thinking "if i win i will have to finish managing project A, B & C before i can quit working" then i realized that someone else can worry about project A, B & C

I'm here to tell you as a soon to be homebuyer well outside the Seattle area.
The rent in the area the store is in is about 2 grand for about 500 to maybe 700 sf.
They have these things called Apodments and they are MAYBE 200 sf and they say starting $650 but the reality is $1000.

You cant really buy anything in Seattle for less than a million that you would actually want to bring friends or family over to see. Very comparable to the California (just moved from there) market, just not as big a foot print population wise.

There is stupid stupid money in that town, reminds me of what I call the Miami Vice days in Southern California.

So I am looking about 30 miles outside downtown where its a little more reasonable.

I will tell you this, even though its a batshit crazy left town the "vibe" is phenomenal.

Its ridiculously Disneyland clean for a downtown. There is a pub or a micro or a coffee house on every corner. There is a place between work and the park garage that has 100 local brewed beers on tap, you walk in with your growler you choose, pop on your co2 mini tap and walk out the door. Just a wall with 100 taps on it, nothing else!

Gazillions of record stores everywhere and I tell you what, I have been around this country and there is no fans more dedicated to there team than these wingnuts. I am sure if you took a Satellite picture of Seattle it would turn up blue/grey/green. The only thing that I have seen that comes close is UK Wildcats, they have the largest travelling fan base out there, they outnumber the home team crowds at a lot of their games.

Easy Street Records, a music store with a diner inside, no reason to ever go outside again!

Its a great Downtown with good public transportation, a lot of people that live there don't have cars because you don't need them.

It would take years to cover it all. When I leave work at night I have no real desire to leave and go home, there is just so much to experience.

Speaking of experience, they REALLY love Jimi and his legend.

Oh yeah and they have rainbow striped cross walks and business' have stickers on their windows that have a rainbow on it with the word SAFE under it.

Great town, having a blast!

And the best part is the air is clean all the time and it smells like a forest, because its a city in the middle of a forest.

Downtown Nashville is another area with a great party vibe, love hanging out there.
